Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

No new H1B, new offices in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore - what comes next?

Jobs relocating back to India with cheap labor and low quality.

Cisco doesn’t want to spend $100K for each new H1B.

With AI and tools, most technical and TAC jobs become redundant.

Cisco to layoff 20,000 folks in USA for expenses to open new offices overseas.

Biggest two lessons of the last 20 years (relearned from our grandparents)

  2. Incentives matter

@bv agree! unless that country has some kind of profound social revolution, it will be stuck doing sweatshop work for the West forever

It will take a while, but Western companies will realize that they can never hope to get quality work from certain cultures

Check the article below. Why give H1-B visa to countries who are involved espionage and stealing intellectual property?

Talent is here in USA with thousands of engineers graduating. Get out of your fox hole and see the real pucture.

Cisco and many other companies will learn that culture matters. The culture in India is to engage in performative work rituals that only serve to reinforce deference to hierarchy. I was moved in to the Bangalore reporting structure and a few months in, I have not seen a single bit of real work emerge from these people.

Eventually, good teams in the EU and US won't fear competition from India, they'll cheer it. It's the assurance that your competition isn't market-driven, it is driven by a culture trapped in a medieval swamp of obedience and ritual. They don't create. They don't even DO. They just say yes boss!! from the time they clock in to the time they clock out.

Remember in the 90s when people wondered who would be the next great economic power, India or China? Literally zero people wonder that now.

AI …. It is neither artificial nor intelligent. 80% of companies are using as an excuse for layoffs.

Bored of training and inference B S.

US employees will move to the latest and best technologies. Mundane work and maintenance will be outsourced to other countries.

Local jobs will stay with US citizens and very few H1-Bs. We don’t want local jobs and latest tech to go to other countries, you know who!

Close the border, no illegal immigrants, stop crony capitalism, stop unfair world trade and stop globalization!! Change is going on and will continue for another 3 years !!

Hail to G2. The Patel G2 is genius that brought Cisco to AI and wrecked the company.
