Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What are the IT changes now that 26 up is out?

Now that the 26 and up postings are out, what are the changes? Are there agile positions? How much of a cut is there? Are you meeting with job owners?

IT people flipping the fk out about all these huge changes that we aren’t actually gunna see or be impacted by.

But I heard the actual big changes is that all the CIO direct reports basically kept their 27-28 PSG, while all of the external hires that the CIO is bringing in are 29-30.

New guy lining his and his friends pockets while all the existing workforce see an org chart with lower PSGs for everyone else.

It won’t matter for the business impact. It’s just a little sick.

They were very explicit that they are not posting job owners and nobody is to seek out job owners to “interview”. The paperwork and PDR is all you get, so all the roles will basically be filled by the same folks who are already known to the job owners. They aren’t taking a risk on someone they don’t know and can’t talk to.

The 26+s are who lead the new org. They’re going to make sure there are plenty of positions for themselves now and in the future. They’ll move all the lower PSG work to India to save their own roles and then pat themselves on the back. But when everything goes to sh-t in 3 years they’ll come up with some excuse and blame it on people who left or on India leaders

You asked, "What are the IT changes...."
The biggest change is the majority of individual contributor and first line LT jobs positions are going to India. They are keeping the middle managers because they are so good at leading the transition forward. Then in another 2 to 3 years those middle managers will be replaced by Indians in Bengaluru....

Ehhhhhhhh not necessarily good news. It depends on who is leaving and left those boxes opened for the ones who can’t find a job outside of Chevron

That is good news.... It's time they finally culled the herd and removed some of spineless back scratchers that have "yes manned" their way into middle management jobs.

There are more 26-27 boxes than there are people because of the high number of EOIs. A lot of XLT quit because they don’t want to work for LC.

The next step in this process is to figure out how to hide those who were left standing in the 26+ crowd. Creating phony baloney jobs is a full time effort.

Fake news. There’s no adjusting roles right now while people are applying.

I heard from someone that they were still adding and removing 26+ roles during this week when people were supposed to be applying. WTF has McKinsey been doing for the last 6 months if they’re still tweaking the org this late in the process?

Every single one of those positions are already decided. They knew who would still be in those roles. They were just waiting to see who AEOI vs being forced out like AG.

In fact, they are playing with all boxes right now to make the target numbers. This isn’t an exercise to see who can perform which roles, this is an accounting exercise. That’s all.

We’re sending advanced degrees jobs to India. You think we’re going to keep useless roles like agile practitioners here?
