Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Why is Centene hiring???

So close to major layoffs, why are hiring people? Just go look at the usual suspects: Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn, and similar sites. There are hundreds of openings, most of which have been posted after the layoffs. Why? I thought we needed to reduce the workforce to cut costs? This is such b—s—!

Let’s not also forget that there are shady _ss HR “partners” that will take a job from someone who is actually QUALIFIED. Doe eyed when they’re on calls telling people they’re laid off, acting concerned...then poof, suddenly they go from an HR job to leading a department in an area they have no experience in. Favoritism? Absolutely. Centene, and especially HR, can f*ck allllll the way off.

@abc+1a77Grng I totally agree. If they wanted you they would have giving you an option for other roles, just as my old employer did. This is why they have you apply with that code to help identify you. Lots of BS.

As I said weeks ago, it’s pure BS when they welcome you to apply for other open positions in-house. They do so to cover their as*es legally. Obviously, if you were valued whatsoever, they would offer you the possibility of a transfer in lieu of RIFfing you. Personally, I wouldn’t so much as give them the satisfaction, it would be akin to groveling.

Isn’t this proof enough for all those who insist that the RIF list selection was purely random? Get real. Age, higher than average salary - I made $9K more than a new hire on our team - and intermittent FMLA or other accommodations were major factors...even if you fit into the culture and were generally liked by lower level management.

@bud+1a77Grng I’ve experienced the same thing. I reached out to a hiring manager, introduced myself, provided my resume, laid out my interest, questions and what I could bring to the table. 15 minutes she responded with I’m interested let’s setup an interview. She had to reach out to the recruiter, whom tried to persuade me into applying for other positions, because I was still working towards my Bachelors. Keep in mind I was already doing the work. I was just one level down from the role I was applying for. She pushed back and the hiring manager and VP wanted to move forward. The interview went very well. They informed they wanted to move fast and if I had any additional questions over the weekend to shoot them an email. 2 weeks went by and nothing. I reached out to the recruiter and she pushed me back another week for a final answer. I still have not heard anything and it’s been over a month. I feel she persuaded them not to hire me, based off of her own opinion. Also, while I was there, my HRBP was trash.

It’s all a giant salary dump operation. I worked at an annuities and mutual funds company in California and they did the same. After 4 rounds of outsourcing and layoffs not a single person internally marked for layoffs got hired into another role. None out of 400. They make up BS reasons why your not qualified. You get paid a normal salary that’s why you don’t qualify.

Last year I was payed off in January 2020 . I interviewed for a different position in a different department with the Senior manager & manager & supervisor and a team lead. I had interacted with these same people in my previous role that I was laid off from. They basically told me in the interview how excited they was that I would be bringing my expertise to their department.. one of the hr recruiters said that the HRBP - Human Resource business partner Beth T. got involved and told them not to rehire me. No specific reason was given. Beth is also the one that encouraged me to apply for new roles. There is definitely some shady behind the scenes things going on.

This is how they reduce costs. Layoff older, more experienced, higher paid people and hire younger, inexperienced people at lower wages.

Or they just offshore them entirely.

I would not be surprised if those positions are posted and active hiring, are at a lower pay scale.
