So basically starting in June front of house support jobs are being eliminated? They will be hiring only sales people who will merchandise when they can get to it? Who will be moving/changing out fixtures as merchandise supplies change on the floor? Fixture setting/arranging is big part of what support does.

see you guys missed the big picture here.. its design to get rid of everyone so they can rehire at a cheaper price... its the ole macys dirty ways
To the poster who said good riddance.
You sound like one of those lazy millennial’s or twenty something’s who think they are privileged because Mommy and Daddy are still supplanting your living expenses because you are not capable of making it on your own.
When the boomers are gone Macy’s will not operate.
Who is called upon to multi task, cover shifts ,stay longer, cover the lunches??? It is the boomers!
Almost every young person in my store can’t handle the workload. They don’t want to work nights, don’t work weekends, take random days off because they need a mental health day etc etc etc.
The younger generations are the laziest people in the store. The innovative young management thinks they do not need to do work just point, walk around ,smile and go to Starbucks.
Macy’s is screwed in the next five years when the boomers are retired.
You all need to get off your lazy butts, grow up and quit depending on Mommy and Daddy.
We have members of both our support and selling teams already telling everyone that they are going to start looking for another job with the coming changes. Support people who don't want to deal with customers and selling team members who look down on doing any "work" other than talking to customers or ringing.
Good riddance to both of these types of employees. They are the negative, long term colleagues who are always complaining and whining about their jobs. Good luck finding another job that lets you get away with what you do at Macy's. Try calling out all the time, going home early and coming in late, not to mention matching all of the scheduling flexibility and loads of vacation time you get. Best of luck to these folks, don't let the door hit you too fast on the way out.
No more coming in early starting in June only 2 hours before store opens is allowed. Everyone will be trained to do other jobs which is happening now!
@btvt. Salespeople will either have to get with the program or leave.
There is no way sales people can merchandise, they can’t even put go backs on the right place , all they do is walk around like sales managers.
I'm at a pilot store "Innovation Selling Program store", the title of sales people no longer exist in my store, now it's call the selling support. They are the ones who do everything at the store. The only sales people are cosmetics, fragrances, and jewelry departments. Ever since the company added central checkout stations at each floor we have cashiers to ring up the customers. It started to look more and more like Kohl's or Target.
Sounds like Foley's years⁉️ 🤔
Not sure what you mean by FOH support. In my store, the 'merch' folks will also help with the truck. There are a couple people who are almost exclusively on the dock but they will help with merchandising. Those folks are considered Back of House. We have Sales Associates who come in early to recover and place new stock. WAAAAY back in the day, like 30 years ago...long before Macy's bought the regional dept store in my area, the sales associates would do all the placement, price changes and sale sets. Of course back then, sales were few and far between.
I’m a sales associate and I am already helping with merchandising and I used to come in early to help when they were doing floor moves also.
