Your chances of surviving this reorg are minimal. The whole thing is about cutting as many of us in that category as possible. They'll toss in some younger folks too (age discrimination is illegal, at least for now), but we're the real targets. Why pay a premium for experience when they can hire someone young and cheap instead? They've proven again and again that they don't care about quality work anyway

Just make sure you advise and review your tech/analyst write up of your workflow doc for Copilot to ingest. That with make it easier for me to advise my colleagues overseas that will be replacing you. Thanks in advance.
I see so many dinosaurs going around the Houston offices... will be a good riddance.
I dropped the glue comment, so feel free to roast.
I will note that it is an unfair characterization in an absolute sense. The "old and well paid" contingent includes those who hold the highest value skills in the company. My guess is that those types will be retained or find similarly well paid roles in industry.
However, it is important to note that this camp also includes a large number of well paid employees who have allowed their skills to atrophy. I'm guessing that MW is licking his chops at the opportunity to trim these people.
everyone who is 55+ should do EOI… a golden chance.
I’m looking forward to being glue….Glue has a multitude of uses.
@b7+1jkq53tb3. Cannot believe MW is here as well on this forum. :p
@ba+1jkq53tb3 Older? I'd say tenured employees will enjoy the announcement.
@bt Some were so good they may have even come back as management consultants we have now with their superior knowledge of the oilfield resulting from their PE and management experience.
There are outliers, of course, but Chevron's older employees are carry the imprint of 20+ years of adverse selection.
Anybody good was bumped into management or jumped to an independent, bank, or PE.
Not surprised to see MW firing up the ole glue factory for these guys.
Define older
When those “older” employees hear about the newer EOI they’ll understand.
I have survived many re-orgs while they have let go those younger than me. I must be an anomaly!
I was an older Chevron employee that got nailed in the 2015 layoff. Despite exceeding my performance goals every year, I never made above a 2 after I turned 55 and my younger boss shrugged when I asked why.
Its not baseless speculation.
Baseless speculation.
Oldies aren’t putting in quality work, sorry to bust your bubble.
