Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I'm good with being laid off

As long as I'm given decent severance, I'll happily leave this place behind. I don't see anything positive in Oracle's future, at least when it comes to employees, so getting out sooner rather than later would be a win in my book. Again, as long as I get paid to leave.

@OP I wish I could be good with getting laid off, however my mortgage lender doesnt take mental well being and emotional stability as a payment option.

After two rounds of layoffs to my team since early 2025, I know I’m next on the chopping block. People are positioning themselves with management and I’ve always been bad at politics.

Feeling the same- put me out of my misery already. The only reason I haven’t left is the job market is so bad I can’t get excited about anything enough to apply.

@ep HR approved or not, that's the reality these days.

"Oracle "certifications" are a complete joke in the industry. "

ABSOLUTELY!

It was merely an instrument of control.

@bs "Be happy you even have a job right now".

I think thats the HR approved response to be given to anyone who might ask about a focal, bonus or promotion.

@OP you haven't a clue. Be happy you even have a job right now.

The job market is bad in IT, as in REALLY BAD. And whatever Oracle experience you have will offer little leverage as you search to find a job. Oracle "certifications" are a complete joke in the industry. And having Oracle work experience on a resume is no longer an advantage.

If you are in the United States you will not receive a decent severance! Oracle pays out much more in Europe and Australia.

@OP You get paid not to sue, basically.

I looked at the agreement I needed to sign before I got my 26 weeks/6 months pay, and it's basically you will not be suing them for any reason. I don't care, I can be bought in that case. I had no idea if I had any provable grounds to sue them on anyway and I wasn't even interested in suing. I'd rather have the money.

Actually, I'd rather have the job - I loved that job and I loved the people I worked with and I had a fantastic manager. The severance has been a huge help, financially.

@OP I think this sentiment is strong with employees who have a long tenure. Non-US employees have decent exit packages - EU is the best for employees, US for employers. Many employees have had salary freezes for 3, 4, 5 years while being Exceeds, Outstanding employees. If the market was better majority of the employees would leave pronto.

Sounds to me like Oracle will be HAPPY to pay you to leave.
