Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I'm just going to leave this here

Please don't do them any favors and actually quit.

@c6+1jk7k8afw,

As someone who just left for ALL the reasons you described, it feels so good on Sunday to not DREAD work in the morning. If you feel the way you described please start networking to find another role outside dell. It's so worth it and I was also hanging around for severance but it got to be too much. The search took me almost a year cause I would get really motivated and some months the burn out would keep me from looking.

Please take care and try to lean into skill building and self care for your mental health. It helped me.

After Dell WFR'ed me in the summer, there were a few things that I wish I had done while i was still at Dell.
1st. Get your resume in great shape. Subscribe to one of those AI tools that will analyze your resume. Put in the serious hours on this step while you are still at Dell.

2nd. Get your linkedin profile refreshed and get in the habit of engaging there (I found it to be pretty worthless, but it's something)

3rd. Literally start applying to jobs while you are still employed. Most of them go absolutely nowhere, but it is vital to find out where you and your Dell skills fall short of what is in the market. You need to realistically identify your gaps and work on closing them and having great stories. The way Dell has operated and "career pathed" people is out of touch with a lot of the job market. You need to know what you are up against out there.

4th. Build your STAR stories database for every line item on your resume and every type of role / skill. Refine it until it's second nature.

5th. Build a great story / narrative to be prepared to recite in an interview. The opening part of interviews tended to be a "tell me about yourself" and "why are you here" type question. Have a damn good one that paints a picture of you on a journey. Leverage good ideas like storytelling techniques and narrative frameworks.

6th. Disentangle from Dell. Clean up old login accounts. Go ahead and cash out any of those stupid a-s award points (yes, I won a bunch of awards right before I was WFRed)

Start right now. Don't wait until you get laid off.

I’ll be honest I was going to stick it out for severance. However everyday I wake up miserable, after dreading coming in pretty much from the time I get off the day before. This place su-ks so much a-s. Like they want me to quit and trust me, I WANT to quit. How am I supposed to get motivated to keep doing this bullsh-t quarter after quarter? Oh, and rather than fix DSA (which is almost unusable these days) they worry about RTO and ever increasing KPIs. Why quote tap every account once a quarter, when we can come off annoying and desperate AF? Who doesn’t love getting unsolicited quotes that come across as annoying grovels from a dying brand? THIS is the strategy? It’s pitiful, it’s embarrassing, and I sincerely mean it, fu-k these people and their company.

I don’t think I can “grind” out another quarter of this sh-t. I hit my number 3 consecutive quarters in 2024 which is huge considering the bullsh-t numbers they give us. Fell off this last quarter because they burnt me the fu-k out. They don’t care, why should I?

Yep. They are going to have to force me out. But not before I've done a bunch of low-quality work (of course with recurrent delays), malingered, and contributed an overall poor attitude.

It's going to be a blast!

This is the spirit of the Phantom $hitter. Just leave it there to register your contempt.

Why stay somewhere if they are treating you poorly? I got a new job and o get paid more than Dell gave me. I have less stress and my new company is treating me better than dell. Ph yeah, it's a fully remote job as well.

I say protect your peace and find somewhere that will respect you and not treat you like a.child and force you ba k into the office 5 days. Its so unnecessary.

Dell isn't worth all that stress in a commute.

If you're fully time remote and don't volunteer to return yo office, are you putting a target on your back for WRT?
