Does your manager su-k?

Some indicators: unwilling to take your improvement concepts upchain, intentional attempts to misrepresent reality to upper management.

I’m gone from Xerox, but my manager exhibited these traits and some worse ones. What is your experience?

I was lucky to almost always have great managers. Most never talked to me and just let me do my job but I did have one id--t nepo baby from the outside that tried to "fix" everything. He lasted a couple years then quit.

You're under the impression that people want your ideas. They do not. Nothing personal, they don't care about you no matter how many little internal Xerox "we care about this minimal subsection of employees!" clubs they push out for pacification of employees.

Stop thinking you're there to change anything, you're there to get paid the minimal amount to do the most.

@br It's called personal survival as a manager.. if you don't hat is expected and don't rock the boat you continue to get your pay. Many people not just managers know that they have job titles and pay that don't match what a company can pay a new person or overseas person for the same output.

Two types.
Blind management that doesn’t see a problem, so they never question it.
And, management that is totally in Cahoots, and has his hand in the cookie jar as well.

That’s it. What else would explain it??

Now now.. "intentional attempts to misrepresent reality to upper management" Is what kept your manager as a manager.. the higher you go in the organization the less truth and improvement ideas are wanting to be heard.. espically if it goes against the the current truth that upper management is believing.
