With some these cash strapped independent blues plans, you think the board is regretting the Cigna acquisition?
Could have had blue licenses in Minnesota, Michigan and others, probably for far less than 3.5 billion too.

Especially BCBSLA- I’m shocked HCSC never made major moves to buy that plan. It was all over the news how BCBSLA tried to Anthem multiple times- but the LA state DOI refused to approve their request to shift from mutual to for-profit. That means they have to sell to another mutual- and HCSC is the biggest mutual.

@qf it’s not the blues model that’s a challenge, it’s that hospital systems have bought up private practices and now charge facility fees in addition to a professional fee.
If cms ever changes to site natural payments, everyone will see drastic savings.
One of many ways things need to change.
The Blues model is becoming increasingly more difficult to be profitable under because of the inability to control reimbursement costs.
The board are wearing their golden masks, watching us destroy each other, like the VIPs in Squid Game. Changing the rules for their own entertainment and watching how we react with amusement. “Take away more PTO, see how they like that!”

Good morning! Speaking on behalf of the entire board, we have no regrets. We on the board are still making millions of dollars off of HCSC while only meeting once a month. The impacts to the riff raff down the chain is immaterial to us. Either way, we make money. Feel free to continue coming here and complaining. It changes nothing, and it is quite entertaining for those of us on the board. Have a good day!
