Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Pension people

Another warning, if you have pension, you have a target. I had pension, I was threatened for a year, that I had to leave the department because "two men don't like you". Then I cut because they didn't need that position. HR was truly, well HR. That position, word for word, was just posted on the public internet. They are truly cutting the old folks for cheaper people, even at the chance of lawsuits.

good luck everyone.

@10q
If you are pension eligible, and you get cut before 55 or 30 years, whichever comes first, you get royally sc--wed vs hitting one of those pension acceleration milestones. You end up with a fraction in retirement of what you would have had. Ask me how I know this. I was targeted and saw it coming from a mile away.

@b0 congrats on being the first test someone from Ford ever conducted. The regression was catching up! Now it's time to introduce unit tests on our products.

They will run out out of the pool eventually. If they keep hiring and laying off people after 2 years term. This is all planned and final end goal. The only pool is gonna be left are new graduates without experience and no people to babysit them.

This is a good topic because it highlights the true nature. You can dedicate years of hard work, only to be let go a few years before retirement and then face the harsh reality of struggling to find another job.

Immorality, inhumanity and lies - then they go out and ask to bail them out using tax payers money.

@b4 I was not yet 55. I was cut just after I turned. many people are reporting being cut 16-12 months before hitting 55 so they get nothing

I remember the glory days in the 90s! The oldest worker in NA was 79 and worked in LT CAD in building 1. My father in law worked at Ford 37 years before retiring; he made more than his managers. Glory days are over.

Ford loves and respects its experienced employees. They see the value in having older employees provide guidance and wisdom to the younger people. Ford would never “target” these people as their knowledge is priceless.
Just kidding!! If you have a pension, why the he-l are you still working? Retire and enjoy your life!

The worst place to sit and wait till 65, because it's most likely that you never make it. 9 out 10 never make it, as a fact. Retirement can't be the future in the automotive industry anymore.
