Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Star Tribune Article on Restructuring

This is a bold statement by the Medtronic spokesman.

“ The restructuring is one of several since 2020, and employees have reported the latest one is occurring in tandem with layoffs.
A Medtronic spokesman declined to confirm any layoffs, saying in an email that he would not comment on “rumors of staffing changes.”
He added that the company’s hiring in recent years has outpaced any reductions — especially in the United States.
“What I will point out is that as Medtronic sharpens its focus on high-opportunity, high-growth areas, we’re making thoughtful decisions about where to invest,” spokesman Justin Paquette said in an email.”

Any guesses on total headcount reductions?

@bq A revolution? Are you thinking this is Cuba or something? Are you going to storm the corporate offices?

If enough people reach out maybe CNBC can push for a number of layoffs.

@c5 Exactly. I doubt they even care about OHS results; look at how the survey went from quarterly to twice a year to once a year.

  • Star Tribune is going bankrupt. they don't do any reporting, mostly AI generated slop
  • Medtronic needs to be broken apart. The corporate burden is not worth it. constant re-org in and trying to consolidate functions has left it permanently damaged. The parts are worth more than the whole
  • Corporate needs to clean house. but they won't, because they are corporate

Hold on for better times, it could happen.

@c5 if this company put a quarter of the thought it puts into communicating to customers into communicating to employees, it would be a much nicer place to work

And our great leaders still keep wondering why they get such low ratings on ‘when senior leaders say something you believe it’s true’ question. GM and his cronies are living in their own delulu world and fail to see themselves as a root cause of the issues.

@bz Please they are part of the puppet show and not protectors of us plebs. We have to protect ourselves.

I wish the Strib journalists would do some actual digging on the number of people let go instead of taking the company PR spin at face value

This is what I keep saying. Our leaders are clueless and make terrible decisions, and we are the ones who lose our jobs. A revolution needs to happen
