Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qomedy

You guys are hilarious!
Depressed when the stock is down. Depressed when the stock is up.
Depressed when there are layoffs.
Depressed when there are no layoffs.

@j7
Was that intentional reference to Office Space? Like him, Did you lie to save your job and say you loved Michael Bolten’s entire catalog? LOL. And um yeah, about your TPS reports….

It’s a Tragedy Qomedy. Because that stock price WILL break your heart every time. “Hope is a mistake. If you can’t fix what’s broken you’ll go insane.”

@OP While the comment uses patterns common in manipulative communication, whether it is intentionally manipulative depends on the context and the speaker's goal. It mirrors several recognized psychological tactics used to control a narrative or influence others' emotions.
Signs of Manipulative PatternsGeneralization & Exaggeration: The comment uses broad, absolute statements ("Depressed when... [everything]"). Generalizations that lack specific evidence are often used to sway opinions by oversimplifying complex issues.Negative & Cynical Humor: Psychology experts note that aggressive or cruel humor—including sarcastic jokes meant to make the speaker feel superior—is a common manipulation tactic. Cynicism in the workplace can act as a "cultural virus," spreading negativity to demoralize others.Invalidation of Experience: By framing every situation as a source of "depression," the comment may be dismissing or invalidating the actual, nuanced feelings people have about layoffs or financial loss. This "emotional whiplash" can leave listeners feeling confused or doubting their own reactions.Creating a "No-Win" Narrative: The structure suggests that no outcome is positive. This can be a form of emotional manipulation intended to induce a sense of helplessness or "learned helplessness" in others.

@c2 Your first statement is wrong because because the fist group is naturally paranoid. You can put me in the second group and even call me a looser if it makes you feel better although I do not feel like one. There is no third group as per your initial comment and your definition of the so called the third group just confirms it. If an AI engineer shows luck of logic I have bad news for you.

@c0 Can I speak my mind or you denied me this right? What you call careful wording is a detached assesment of the OP comment. May be you can tell me the true meaning of the OP post?

@bq people the first happy group won't lurk around on this forum. So you must be in the 2nd group (a losers group). There's also a 3rd group (possibly more) ! I'm part of the 3rd group. Working last 5 years in one of the AI teams and happy where I am for now. If that changes, I'll move elsewhere but definitely won't join the miserable 2nd group!

@br can't speak of OPs intentions but your careful sentence phrasing and inventing deeper meaning from that post makes you more of manipulator.

@OP Your post has all the signs of manipulation. You separated yourself from other commenters, you are trying to turn serious matters into a joke, you labled commenters "depressed" even though they are not. You are a manipulative individual.

@OP You seem to be above all of this comedy and do not belong to any of the categories you listed. Tell us the which category you belong to? Q has over 50k employees that are split in two groups at least: people whom is happy with the current state of things such as various high ranking employees, their family and friends. Second group is the majority unhappy ones at the expense of whose work the overcrowded happy group is kept happy.

The people hoping Qcom fails and getting upset when the stock to goes up can't possibly have any stocks.
