It's all better now. All is forgiven and we can all just move along like this never happened.

What is his email address?
@ay this is spot on coming from a currently still employed (for the moment).
@bq a farce of epic proportions with a band of butt clowns driving the clown car off the cliff -
From what I had heard Maurice had a five year contract so it makes sense that he just gets to take the heat and they can claim to start fresh with whoever gets appointed next. It's all a farce, same decision makers that have been crapping all over the employees the past few years will continue to do so.
@ap you are spot on about positioning Maurice as the villain. This is quite common before a major leadership change here. The outgoing (or interim) CEO serves as the fall guy, and the incoming person keeps their head down until named- and then gets to be the “good guy who claims to care about people and put everything back together.”
"Modest" adjustment? What about crippling, cutthroat, detrimental, nonsensical, irrational, or illogical for better descriptors?
@a1 ???
@ar Did not feel like a careful adjustment, felt like madness and honestly no core values were involved. Not sure morale improves unless the goal is to continue to shrink in which case it doesn't matter. Assuming they will lose flex time etc. The more corporate speak that gets said, the more disconnected it feels. Short term financial gain, mid-term and long-term harm. The relationships and cultural knowledge of navigating the complexity of the HCSC enterprise just left the building. Blue Pulse is going all the way to the left and my guess is a lot of people are starting their search while employed.
Any word on a c suite shuffle of buffoons?
If nothing changes at the top then this layoff was pointless. They got us into this dumpster fire so they sure can’t get us out.
Time for real leadership- not happy clowns collecting paychecks.
I remember the good old days where the motto was to stand by our members in sickness and in health. Now the new motto is as long as top executives are lining up their pockets and their cronies have high paying jobs all is good. Amazing that with a poor performance the CEO compensation went up substantially. I mean, poor guy, he is doing two jobs, CEO and President of the Board, the org chart said so. Makes you wonder if we are truly member owned.
@OP message heard loud and clear...leadership through fear. Not through inspiration. Maurice and other remaining leadership, which will not question...acting like all failed leaders now.
@OP Unfortunately no word on the status of the maintenance being performed on the org chart, I’m worried, I hope things are okay.
Could they not ask chatgpt to add some relevant information and human elements to the template they used? It possibly would have made it look like they took the required empathy course. No appreciation and farewell to the severed employees? The next Blue Pulse will be deservingly brutal.
It was a fill-in-the-blank email any company could have used. I understand RIFs sometimes have to happen, but at least pretend to care about the people impacted.
Here is the e-mail.
"Maurice Smith
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
To: HCSC Employees
A Focus on Efficiency for Long Term Success
This week, after careful consideration, we have made modest adjustments across our workforce focused on driving efficiency and effectiveness. Our prudent approach to hiring and organizational design has been beneficial to avoid making larger adjustments. Through our careful stewardship we are ensuring that our company remains durable, effective and relevant.
As a mission-driven company, it is important for us to focus on serving our members. Improving our members’ health care experience through increased effectiveness and collaboration will be a collective priority.
We are best positioned for long-term success when we partner across functions and divisions to offer enhanced stakeholder experiences that are driven by quality, value and continuous improvement.
Thank you for your work to serve our stakeholders."
Maurice and our other upper management are thieves who steal the livelihood of employees for their personal gain. He will be getting his big bonus this year, of course.
@a8 maybe they’re positioning him as the villain to bring in the bero
@OP This email is full of consultant speak bingo.
@OP Apparently we owe him thanks because, without his prudence and organizational design, it could have been worse. This is a message from someone wholly detached from the reality of the workforce and surrounded by like thinkers. Where are the inefficiencies? Where is the ineffectiveness? What was the common link shared by those released? Information from the consulting company he’s hiding behind would be more useful.
@a4 didn’t a bunch of corporate comms folks leave?I think it was written by Elon
Chat Gpt wrote that sh-t. We all know Maurice isn't eloquent.
@ae He said absolutely nothing, nothing about having to make difficult decisions or taking care of our people.
Seems like Maurice didn’t take the mandatory empathy training himself.
Speaking as one of the "modest adjustments" who still has received no severance information - the entire leadership team can shove it. Especially my leader...spineless piece of cr-p. Crash and burn, bi--hes!
For the record this is what real Fascism looks like. A cold leadership not providing an iota of information about what is actually happening. No consultation with management on ways to cut back. Any of us could be next in order to meet the numbers of the organization.
Maybe… just maybe HCSC was not equipped to purchase another company. 40 million dollars and that’s the email he sends out! Fu-k!
What did he say in it? I'm an independent contractor so I dont get HCSC emails
“Careful stewardship” what a POS.
Describing the people that were laid off as modest adjustments is simply disgusting. Proof that this leadership team is really not concerned about any it their own hides.
Seriously- the dude dialed it in. How about he and his band of clowns take a modest pay cut??? Or better yet- resign?
Continue to serve the stakeholders…so continue to be corporate slaves. Get back to work. Got it.
@OP “modest adjustments”
Give me a f*cking break Maurice
@a5 Corp Comms have confirmed that they definitely read this. They have made a conscious decision, presumably with Maurice’s blessing, that dodging the difficult topics is a good internal comms strategy. 👏
I agree, that was a waste of an email. Cold and did not provide any information at all.
what in the chatgpt was that?
@OP nothing he could say would make it better, but he could have at least acknowledged it was a hard decision or something to that effect rather than trying to turn it into a positive spin. Obviously he doesn’t look at this page and those who write the emails for him don’t look either!
That email feels like a joke. So insensitive and out of touch, inhuman even.. did ChatGPT write that?
Unwilling to share even the barest of details
Or at least the EAP link.
He glossed over the trauma, didn't he? He should have included that unaliving message we all got earlier this week.
