Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

PM revamp

I like what I’m seeing so far: goals tied to business objectives, deliver results as primary focus, use AI to draft your goals to avoid wasting time.

We’ll see if leaders are actually serious when it comes to ranking. Either you delivered and it notably impacted business, or you didn’t.

I don't know if I like the revamp of the PMP. On the one hand, it's much simpler and maybe we can cut out the fluff nonsense. But this almost seems like a way to really make it pass/fail with minimal way to stand out which I can see as a pro and a con but this really suggests that raises every year will be minimal.

RM derangement syndrome is still prevalent on this site. She's probably reading all this, cracking up and eating popcorn while you guys sweat it out.

I used to make realistic and ambitious goals that put pressure on me to deliver results. When I didn’t meet some of my self-imposed objectives and watched other people who “phoned it in” meet theirs…I stopped. Now I set goals that basically require me to breathe but are worded to make it sound like it is I credible. Frees me up to actually do my job and contribute to the company (coworkers) in a meaningful way. Glad to see the new system is focused on delivering results rather than unicorn farts.

I have a strong feeling that the company will have a chance to survive since they fired RM.

It will not be easy to clean her mess but still possible. It will take years though to undo what she did and clean the rotten deep state that she created inside CVX.

When will you understand that you just need to be in the club and you’re good. Look at all the failures in all these huge Major Capital projects and such and they all get promoted and move to new orgs.

AI to rank employees - that almost as good as united health using AI to deny/approve claims.

"I wish they bring back the 6 levels of ranking (numbers). Hard to distinguish the real performers with just the 3 rating system."

There were only five rankings in the old number system, but I can see why you would earn a 3.

People can dismiss AI tools all they want, but you can either learn to use prompts / copilot to improve your efficiency, or you can give your job to someone else that will.

MG is spot on
Cleaning RM mess finally

Back to being an oil company and have the systems, functions and processes to support this not to become businesses on their own or focus on social engineering and vengeance agendas

Keep it up MG

We are all glad that the trash was taken out

Use AI to draft your goals? Why not make people THINK about their goals THEMSELVES? There’s a reason teachers and professors don’t want AI generated answers from students.

Delivering results is where the buck stops; everything else is just an enabler and shouldn't be categorized separately. I've noticed many people who focus solely on participating in community events and other non-essential tasks, yet still receive high ratings and rewards. They often associate with influential figures and post about it at workplace. It's late, but I'm glad to finally see that delivering results is what truly matters.
