Holidays in India are a bit strange from a US perspective. Each area in India have their own holidays and leaders choose which holidays to give their employees off. There are a few required holidays, but most of them are 'flexi-holidays.' If I remember correctly they get 10 holidays a year, but we hear about dozens because some individuals have each of them off.
@r6 Cost of living in India is about 80% cheaper than the U.S. . Makes sense their salaries would be significantly lower.
@r6 It'd be nice if the US salaries were adjusted, based upon cost of living increases. Getting less than 2% increases for a 5 rating is insulting, even if you ignore the fact it doesn't come close to being a COLA.
Offshore teams are working for peanuts, so I don’t feel bad if they have a day or two more. If you’re stateside, be grateful. That doesn’t mean we can’t keep fighting for better pay, but don’t blame the offshore teams for trying to make a living too. The problem isn’t with the offshore staff (if they are qualified), but with Optum offshoring the work.
Salaries outside of the U.S. are significantly lower than in the U.S., so be careful what you wish for. I've managed U.S., India and Ireland team members (at Optum). During performance review time, I was shocked at how low the pay was for non-U.S. team members who in most cases were top performers, doing as well if not better than their U.S. counterparts. When I tried to get promotions and pay raises for the India and Ireland team members, I was told that wasn't possible as their salaries were adjusted for cost of living.
@bn so you're emphasizing my point. as i said, it just tells me all of the holidays/PTO others get that we don't
Quite the over reaction. There are 8 company holidays and 1 floating making 9. In Ireland there are 10. You are looking at one less.
In Ireland PTO starts at 21 days.
The survey doesn't do anything, and they don't read the free responses at all. You think they care enough about us to read them?
Leaders only care about what score their hierarchy has, and judging their middle managers based on what score their workers gave them.
They will have meetings to discuss what they can do better and it will never lead to anything actually positive. I guess you might see more Bravos getting thrown out since that's their idea of how to get their score up.
