Not layoff related but question if someone who works at USAA currently
Has been arrested and then released is that grounds for termination ? Should it be reported to USAA (

Good advice here. Your background screening was done for a reason, and this happens at any large company. You are given 5 days to report it, so do and the rest should play out based on the results. I remember when I was at another large firm, and suddenly a whole bunch of people disappeared in one day after a full company wide screening was done all based on one incident. They even gave poeple time to self report (or confirm), but they did not. If you have no integrity, the risk to keep you is just to high.
The Employee Handbook very clearly states you must notify your management if you are arrested and face any municipal or criminal charges, indictments, or convictions under any dr-g statute, regulation, or ordinance for DUI/DWI within 5 calendar days of the event.
Majority of the time, your manager and or leadership team will know before you even tell them. Like a comment on here stated as well, not all arrest lead to termination. During the early months of the pandemic, my manager was arrested for public intoxication, she was passed out drunk in her car that was parked 2 blocks from her house. She kept her job, then was giving a layoff notice in Aug 2022.
Don’t volunteer anything. Wait it out.
Not every arrest is a termination. I would wait it out.
Shhh. Every situation is different. Do not disclose your arrest until management questions you about it. You still have to appear in court and plead your case.
USAA gets a report every morning from local magistrate offices where they have employees. So it’s best just to be upfront with your direct manager and leadership team. As long as it’s not mu---r, dr-g possession or selling dr-gs, your job should be safe most of the time.
If you were to get arrested, USAA will find out within 24 hours, and depending on the severity, can lead to termination.
Back in 2016, this guy on my team, drunk driving ran a red light side swiped another car, that car slammed into a light pole, he sped off. A week later, he’s arrested on campus, fired a few days later.
Just last year a girl on my team was arrested for offering her “services” to an undercover cop, she kept her job and eventually quit to start an OF account.
@bm THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!
Nah, look at the crooks in the new administration.
Being arrested is a rite if passage…
