Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Just do better VA

Tech should make work faster, simpler, and more effective. Even at a company like Nike, where the heart is brand, product, and sport - a strong tech foundation is essential to competing in today’s marketplace.

What’s tough is when leadership decisions prioritize image over capability. We’ve all seen what happens when someone is chosen for pedigree or presence rather than the depth required for the role. As a woman in tech, it’s painful to watch because it reinforces stereotypes and biases that so many of us are working to dismantle.

A strong tech organization needs leaders who actually understand the work, care about the teams, and can build the systems the business depends on. That’s how real change happens.

@cv Too far. I have no love for MD, but the Rat was the worst ever. Multiple federal investigations, hired his lover, started a war within tech… MD was in it for herself but god help isnif the Rat wasn’t the worst

Can we not get an actual Tech Leader? the fu-k is going on? The answer it seems is to just ship every job in GT to ITC and accenture.

Would be interesting to see how VA runs tech with a reduced budget when his background is not tech.

MD was worse than the Rat, and the Rat was the worst ever. MD had in her first all hands had one of the worst intros with JD. She spoke about her Ora Ring sleep tracker and how that proved how Tech savvy she was.

Nike leadership in the last 7 years has been worst that the current DJT administration.

I mean VA's pay should help right? Public internet sourced info, not internal information.

"VA will now make a salary of over $1 million and will have a target bonus opportunity of 120%."

This was the best reaction IMO on another post —>

Another masterful display of Boeing "strategy"………love the sheer stupidity of it all.

I remember it like yesterday when RAT got booted, the peanut gallery popped champagne. Then we bring in an outsider MD just so everyone could dunk on her for sport.

Now VA gets the big promotion purely because EH desperately wanted CS gone yesterday. VA is no savior here. Same rancid wine, shinier bottle.

Also, no company in the history of capitalism has ever "cut" its way to an outsized outcome, yet here we are, led by a fearless crew of Senior Leadership clowns (EH front and center) who haven't a single clue between them.

We're not just sc--wed, we're Boeing-level sc--wed. Buckle up!!!!

And maybe don't let your team live every day like it might be their last.

Right! Blind leading the blind.

Nothing screams "visionary leadership" quite like a C-suite full of people who think "AI" is a synonym for "magic box that fixes everything," yet couldn't explain a neural network if their bonus depended on it.

We need actual technical leaders, not smooth-talking executives whose entire strategy is a buzzword salad drizzled with hype cycles.

MD was the wrong hire. Wonder if MM and JD are still high-fiving themselves for their incredible ability to attract great talent?
