Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Layoffs soon then

Town hall seemed to say everyone is going to have a 1 on 1 with their manager this month to talk about their future. Surely wouldnt bother if there isn't bad news to break.

Also no merit increases again, su-k it up.

@wt I’d be more than happy to get on with my job — if I actually could. But it’s constantly blocked by poor management decisions or inaction.

I can’t use ChatGPT because “AI is dangerous.”
I can’t install the software I need because it’s “not approved.”
I can’t get access to systems because it’s “stuck in process,” “the form’s wrong,” or “nobody knows who owns it.”

Six managers are chasing it, and yet it still isn’t moving. So I’m effectively being paid to wait.

If there were actual work I could progress, I’d do it — but I’m not going to invent meaningless tasks just to look busy. It could have all been resolved years back with investment in systems and processes. But that was all blocked, and we're still told - but we can't do that!! Stop telling the staff to do their fu--ing job or quit, and start aiming at the management who are quite happy to wind this business down while making a quick and easy buck for themselves.

@qb Your the reason why DXC is failing, do your job to the best of your ability and lower the cost of getting things done. No wonder DXC comes in with high margins as you all do almost nothing and get paid the same. F U all

@k6 ah, I get it. You think you're on Glassdoor!

You're not.

I can tell you what I’m working on — mostly my hobbies and housework. As for actual work, it’s just endless calls where people who love the sound of their own voice talk for the sake of it. We all leave none the wiser about what actually needs doing or how we’re meant to achieve it. Especially when the budget is $0, we have no access, and we’re not allowed to install anything anyway.

@aj mate, I'm starting to think you've forgotten which website you're on. Try reading the name in the top left again before your next comment.

I think they’ll announce a 5-day in-office policy to push some people to leave.

They want to find out what you are working on so they can assess who all they can fire. They will try and get a handoff and then give you a December surprise.

I've got at least 4 managers chasing down a 30 minute task. If only they'd treated the engineers who can do the task right - they might actually just do the work! But instead they can attend a meeting to discuss, and just call out that there isn't enough detail to begin, and then go awol for another week.

I am astonished by the lack of exciting details how the whole delightful reorganisation will take place and what is the expected economic value of a such move, considering the last few global reorganisations with near to none tangible (means $$$) outcomes for the people below a particular level.

I was out once the (btw incredible) book "turn the ship around" was about to be cited. The book is really good, but not applicable to DXC' reality, for many, many reasons.

I think, a lot of people on top bet on this initiative as it is like the holy grail of all management decisions that could be taken.

It would cost less, if 3-4 management levels just disappear and give the people who achieve something and above that the long awaited and well deserved promotions and merit increases.

Otherwise, sooner or later there won't be anyone left to manage.
