It isn't a randomizer. I wish it were actually sophisticated but it's not. I HUGELY political. In OT some areas seem immune like M T's org where others get gutted. It's terribly inhumane. There is a spreadsheet with every employee in an org it contains everything from salary to review to demographics. It's literally a series of filters and a group is either above the line or broke it. The ones on the wrong side are decided on my list for mgrs. This is where the beauty parent starts. You can figure out the rest ... My words are true, I promise you....

@nk is it a third party or internally where it’s decided? I heard finance uses a randomizer to take into account demographic information. Is this accurate?
when departments are hit hard including leaders, how is it determined?

Seems pretty quiet today. Any layoffs going on?

The names get vetted and locked in. After that HR and finance go through them and set the packages based on GL. Those are then sent to a GL 32 for "Approval to proceed" That is the "certification of the packages" I refer to. I've been here 19 years and have done this sadly many many times, the process it the same every time. Don't stumble on vernacular. My words are true.

Every quarter is a whopper. Optum being nothing but utter chaos for 16 years when the name was INGENIX. Change tack every 6 mos where we are headed and never get anywhere.

Don't worry, these things come in waves. 10/30 is a whopper but 10/16 won't miss out on the fun either!

@bj

I have never heard of anyone “certifying a package” of names. This is either weird wording or just someone making stuff up.

10/30 is the confirmed date, at least in Optum Tech. It's pretty locked in, all the names have been approved and finance has certified the packages.
