Yeah, it's weird here. Yeah, the morale isn't great and the Coporate big-wigs make life more difficult on their employees than they have to. But get out and enjoy the weekend, everyone. Happy Labor Day!
But to the on-highs who decided that the still hybrid office employees have offended the company by having the audacity to celebrate a federal holiday on a Monday and elected to punish us by forcing everyone into the office next Thursday; I hope the beer is warm and the grill breaks.
@bj been there done that and it extreme emergency. Yes, I was able to work from home for one day, but on the second day, I was told I had to work in the office on a Friday not Thursday, but Friday neither was possible giving the circumstances! Waste of a PTO day!
The policy which makes even less sense is when people can “occasionally” switch a WFH & office day for special circumstances, i.e. kid home sick from school, plumbing emergency, flat tire, etc. Instead of using personal/sick time, sone employees, who have a chill boss, are able to request to WFH and come in on another day to make up that third office day, BUT…nobody else in the department will obviously be there, so that defeats the whole purpose of office time. It’s just a punishment to make people come in, waste their money on gas/tolls, make them get up early and deal with stress on their commute, etc. Pure evil.
Worse policy ever. Makes zero sense. It's just a punishment for mostly US holidays.
Has anyone attempted to WFH on one of these “holiday make-up office days”?

Thursday is WFH. Period. End of story.
How about you let us make-up WFH days when holidays fall on Thursday & Friday, like Thanksgiving and Christmas this year? Nope? Then, we’re not making up office days., numb nut.
