Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

H1-B abuse at Fiserv

Before anyone cries racism, no that's not it. Some very talented people from overseas in this company.

The problem is that Fiserv are abusing the H1-B system to supress wages across the board and build itself an extremely compliant workforce. Their visa is dependent on them keeping their job. Fiserv knows they can underpay and take advantage of people who won't (can't) speak up about it. It's bad for both Americans and H1-B holders.

I know this widespread in tech, but I've been to a few of these companies and I've never seen a company abuse the system as much as Fiserv do.

When I was a manager at Fiserv I had an H1B visa developer who was paid the same as other equally experienced American developers. He was actually the best one on the team and everyone looked up to him, colleagues and clients alike. He quit because of the silly return to office mandate and found a job right away with one of our competitors

@bj Great news that H1B salary data is actually 100% publicly available. They are underpaid. See for yourself. I personally know of someone who very much should be at the advisor level stuck at tech lead for many years on an h1b.

Ban H1B, only hire American Citizens and Green Card holders. Ban staffing firms.

@da we should ban all H1B staffing firms and insist prime vendors to W2 any consultant placed at all US Corporations.

@a7 tech firm recruiters of an unspecified country know if one qualified American touches the pile of resumes, they can no longer have H1B s legally join the company. Even though their practice of finding candidates is blatantly illegal as it is discriminatory.

There are many unemployed Americans right now in tech.

However, look around in a US office anyway. Do you notice anything?

@d4 Correct. 10 years of Indentured service is not a skin color.

Almost everyone in the US looks H1B to me. It's very strange even in a multinational to have it at this level.

@d4 I support OP. This statement makes sense “ The problem is that Fiserv are abusing the H1-B system to supress wages across the board and build itself an extremely compliant workforce. Their visa is dependent on them keeping their job. Fiserv knows they can underpay and take advantage of people who won't (can't) speak up about it. It's bad for both Americans and H1-B holders.” Where do you expect the issue to be fixed - @USCIS and @DOS or @Senate, @House and The White House. How can one company fix the country’s immigration mess created over decades? All racist trash will take every opportunity to rile upon any common sense proposals and vomit their insecurities, as it happened in this otherwise sensitive post.

OP here, everyone's completely missed the point of the original post. I've no idea how this turned into a racist parade.

It just hammers home how much the us vs them mindset has been pushed since the last election.

We're all fu---d, see you in he-l..

Shocked why? Consultants and body shops place H1Bs via F1 transfers. Fiserv sends roles to primary vendors, then secondary, then third-level vendors taking $5/hour cuts. Substandard universities offer Masters seats to foreigners for profit. Why did US consulates over-issue F1 visas? What is their motive?

On LinkedIn search for this, "H1B" "Fiserv", include the "".

Then filter on Posts.

You will see the posts requesting H1B only applicants for jobs at Fiserv.

H1B abuse is just a perception. Show the data if they are promoted less, or given lesser raise than others or else accept that it is just a racist rant. Eventually every H1B should get Green Card, become citizens and assimilate as all of us from Europe have done since 1600s. Agree that new H1Bs must be issued very sparingly based on US unemployment rate for that quarter. And should be 0 if there is a threshold.
I see highly talented and hardworking H1B employees, who create great value for our clients and stockholders.

That's the whole point of H1B - suppressing wages and get you to work anytime of their choosing.

That’s why we have to stop singing praises about the new CEO. It’s the same Sh*t wrapped in a different color. If you’re an American you are replaceable. Don’t give much to this company.

There are way too many H1B at Coral alone. Aside from cost cutting, why can't they just hire contractors instead of sponsoring H1B visa holders? What's the difference in cost anyways?

With contractors, Fiserv isn't paying their insurance, their temp agency is. I got my job here by being a contractor first and then becoming a permanent hire.

I don't know if any immediate examples where H1B hires are permanent or not.
