@bh the reason they did it this way was to create a huge moral injury within the people still there. Scare the fu-k out of them... it's corporate 101 to keep your work force feel like their being hunted constantly. Psychological warfare & an act of violence :)

@ax because it's not about toys anymore- it's about BRANDS. Mattel has shown that they actually don't care about kids & play based on this major L of a business plan

@hn oh he did something alright. He brought and executed his scam to Mattel. The agency who was in on it should have been fired too.

@g5 Yup PF did nothing, took credit for work he had nothing to do with (even some from before he was at Mattel), and supposedly was taking kickbacks from those agencies he brought in. Did you ever see him in any meetings? Lol.

Is it true that the head of IMC was caught trying to make shady deals with ad agencies?

@bh this is correct, the people “laid off” last week are paid through Jan 12. Therefore Jan 12 is their layoff date when their severance kicks in.

@ax LOL do you really think the SVP is responsible for coming up with great products? how long have you been here? the most they do is show up to meetings and do a hand wave. they go to meetings just to justify their existence at the company at that point.

@OP they did meet requirements - layoffs were 60 days before Jan 12th. Layed off employees are paid through that date.

Looks like product design got hit pretty hard — at least 16 people in that department are on the list, including some veterans, a couple managers and an SVP.

How’s Mattel supposed to come up with future hit products when they don’t invest in product design?

I noticed that during the last layoffs, they filed late so we can’t see it coming. Take a look at the last warn notice and compare to the date of the March layoffs. They found a loophole.
