5 days in office on its way

To get people to quit at first, then fire the rest that don’t follow the rules.

@ee a myth right? when most corporations have a RTO mandate in place and VZ just announced 1 Penn Plaza as another hub. Get serious!

RTO is a myth, no one wants to pay for brick and mortar. The cost of real estate is worse not better. WFH makes sense financially, if anything those not WFH should be worried because if you’re cutting fat you’re absolutely going to to eliminate property

@dk Yes! exactly what AT&T did and VZ will follow “ Concentrations of employees enables the teamwork, mentorship, and visibility that, when combined with performance and contribution, can better equip you to advance your career.”

@d3 do you think just because they are WFH they are out to the top of the RIF list? Just to consolidate and have everyone in office? Even if their performance is better than those in office?

@a9 what does that have to do with my question. How can they ask some people to go to office 5 days a week and have some fully remote in same exact positions working for same manager

I think rto as a way to reduce headcount has a lot of merit.
Verizon has always resisted wfh. They reluctantly allowed it during c19. It was always obvious rto was desired. Anyone who ignored the writing on the wall and restructured their life so they cannot rto is clearly low iq. This is exactly the quality of employee we hope to rid ourselves of during a rif.

So what? Stop with the envy....good employees will perform even working from Mars...5 days RTO will not make any difference turning the ship around. The disease has roots that this time go 100 times deeper. Get a life and leave the RTO BS alone.

@a9 I did. My last day is Halloween. Moving on from this long term nightmare and starting my own business at 55. While the pay is good, my health is more important at my age.

@a5 what are you going to do, quit? Start over in your 50s for 30% less?

@OP how can they justify RTO when many peoples offices closing down and at least 1/5 of people get to work from home full time.
