I’m no where near retirement age but considering raising my hand for EOI. Have there been cases where EOI/severance was not granted by the company? Anyone familiar with that situation -what were the circumstances?

You better hope you have a spotless record and never visited personal websites on company computers or you’ll be fired for cause before they give you severance
@1pc there is no way in he-l that Chevron is reducing headcount by 60%. Idk why you'd make up such a ludicrous number.
@fw+1jh7gc311 Your comment on 20% is low based upon one of the slide decks that was presented in December. One line item stated reduction of staff of 60% of US based employees.
If that’s true, a lot of people will be let go.
Goal is to reduce the employees in 2025 and backfill with contractors and MSP resources.
If you are unfamiliar with the term “regret EOI”, it means somebody you would have otherwise placed in a position. It’s somebody you ideally want to keep but since they don’t want to stay, next best option is a transition position that requires them to stay until a certain date and do knowledge transfer before they receive the package.
I sure wish CVX employees would post in English instead of gibberish on this site.
Regret EOI usually get transition jobs. You sweeten the deal but don't really want to keep someone who doesn't wannabe there
Yes EOI's are rejected, I was refused in 2020. Fortunately I was in a position to resign anyway. The extra cash would have been nice but leaving was alot more beneficial to me family.
Good luck folks hoe you all get what you want.
Some of us don’t want to be around to deal with the mess that chevrons going to be after these changes, even if we were to make it through this closed door selection process.
I’ll happily take 10 months pay to go away and find another job. Luckily I’m not in an O&G specific function so opportunities aren’t as limited for me.
At this point… with nothing of substance yet announced, how soon could we hope to EOI and then get released to join another company? March? April? 3Q?
Almost all EOI will be accepted. If trying to reduce headcount by 20% across the board, getting 4-5% voluntarily makes the job much easier.
some mindfug games here i see....seeding the tots of EOI
giving those who wants to remain in CVX a higher chance of being safe in their jobs or when applying other jobs
I’ve not heard of an EOI being denied before, but I know of two people back in 2020 who only got the package after staying another 6 months or so to train their replacements first
EOIs protect the company from lawsuits so they’re usually happy to do it as the poster below said
They will accept as many EOIs as possible. They are happy to cut as many employees as possible. ELT couldn't care less about the quality of the workforce.
If you are a high performer they won’t let you EOI. If you are average or below, you are welcome to go.
It really depends how many people MW wants to get rid of. As others have mentioned, EOIs are just a way to avoid age discrimination lawsuits. If there was anyone denied EOI in 2020, they were a very small number. More common in 2020 was EOI people (usually low level managers) put in transitional positions to train their successors. Almost all I knew of were out the door themselves within 6 months.
@bc+1, once you EOI, there's no turning back. Make your decision carefully, and don't look back.
Some people definitely got it denied in 2020
@bg are the remaining employees getting extra raises or something? What do you mean by "well compensated?"
Can you elaborate on “you will be well compensated”? Retention bonuses? Actual pay raises?
In the 2020 transformation layoff, EOI was approved by default and the “rules” said anyone requesting it would get it. All other layoffs this was not the case and I know plenty of people over the years who requested EOI and did not get it. EOI is just a way for people to indicate that they prefer being laid off and don’t want to receive a position. If the company needs you in a spot, especially a transition spot that requires you to do KT with the new hires in ENGiNE, then that’s what happens.
Well, some of us have been working our a$$es of for years, so it won’t be a big deal. 😂
In my last meeting with HR, it does not appear we will deny anyone requesting the EOI. The number that MK wants to hit is pretty high and we are working on how to fill positions with contract labor. If you want to leave with a package, this seems to be the best time to do it. I can guarantee, things are only going to get harder and more hectic as we move everyone (not just 26 and above) back to the office 5 days/week. If you stay, you will be well compensated but full disclosure, you will be expected to work you a** off.
What if you EOI, are selected, but change your mind? In other words, is the EOI bonding?
The other nuance is that if you EOI and you're placed into a transition role, you must remain through the end date of that transition role to receive your severance. If you quite before that date it's deemed to be a voluntary resignation and you lose the severance. I've seen instances where transition roles last up to 12 months.
Because you still need to apply for jobs when you EOI, there is probability that you will be placed if it’s determined you are needed for a particular role / business need. It is merely letting management know that you are open to taking a package, but no guarantees.
Yes. Multiple people EOIed during the PDCe acquisition and didn't get it. Some of them left Chevron already but the others that are still here have just kept their bad attitude.
