Bonus % - Partially Achieved

Been with the company 10 years and received exceeded a majority of the time (8/10 reviews). To my absolute shock I have received a partially achieved. It looks like bonus payout is anticipated to be around 100% per today’s email - what can I expect for partially achieved? 50%? Lower? Thank you.

What respectable company pays last year bonuses in April next year?! Oops, I think I gave the answer in the question. TR should owe us interest at market rate

@r5

That's right - it's an automatic 0% increase in pay. Your bonus will be 50-75%, most likely they will try to shortchange you to 50% to fund the people who are paid below market.

@OP You will get 50%. And you will get a 0 increase in pay.

They want to reduce headcount without paying severance. So they’re giving more people a “Partially Achieved” rating and putting them on a PIP with the intention of terminating them.

I got partially meets as a junior. They said I wasn’t using AI everyday as an active user and only moderate or minimal. Totally blindsided. Messed up company.

After 25 years I got a Partially Achieved for the first time. They didn’t bother with a PIP because they laid me off the next week. Layoffs are in the works for at least 2 months before they happen so the bad review was bogus. I got 90% of the bonus which wasn’t bad but it still made me mad because of how calculated and fake it all was.

@r2 you should be concerned… if you genuinely performed well and you got partially meets it’s because the company was forced to stack rank you to save money on bonuses and raises. Now this depends on your organization but this is also to make employees leave willingly without firing or PIP them. Now if they need to target and reduce a percentage of people and your manager doesn’t want you there and they are forced to cut someone it’s either the manager or you. This is literally part of their performance goals when there’s downsizing. So if they don’t perform eg manage you out via PIP then it’s the managers job on the line so you tell me what the manager is gonna do in those cases.

@r5 The way this goes is that when there’s environments to cut headcount and managers are pressured they have to point the g-n at someone on the team. If your whole team is at achieved except you and they need to make cuts when HR sends that email to managers who’s direct report is partially met… you better hope your manager wants to keep you and that it is genuinely out of their control OR that the company isn’t forcing the manager to reduce headcount. So better kiss a$$. Sorry.

@bf I’ve gotten an exceeded 4/8. The rest being achieved. In my first team I was the guru even being new, I got exceeded all 4 years on the team. Second team and I were terrible fits, both in job and personality. This was my first year completely with the third team, and I got an archived which was expected, however I’m no longer tying for an exceeded because I no longer care. Achieved is fine for me and what is left of my time here. Those first 4 years taught me exceeded is possible but it will probably cost you your sanity.

I received Partially Achieved and they said it was not a PIP. They also made it seem like it would result in 0 increase in pay.

I am a TR employee of not quite two decades. I have received achieved ratings most years, and exceeded rarely. This year I received a partially achieved rating for the first time and in a new role. My manager does not agree with the decision.

I was very unhappy with the result and likely impact on pay and bonus but also concerned about the mention of PIPs in this forum. I understand that to be at the manager's own discretion so I will post what happens here so other people are not scared needlessly. A below achieved rating might well be used for a PIP, it seems it's an option, but I don't think its a given. If I am wrong I will post an update.

Even so it's a bad system because employees motivations and morale are impacted by this poisson curve cr-p of ratings.

@qa this right here. HR will automatically will get an email with your rating. Then they will send over a template to your manager for a PIP.

If you're below achieved expect a PIP. Your bonus is not your concern.

I'm curious how you achieved Exceeded 8/10, or ever. I've been here over 20 years and have accomplished some major initiatives, and I have never, ever gotten an Exceeded rating except maybe on an occasional goal, not an overall rating.
