Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Brace Y'Self, Effie

Here we go! My source just told me to expect things to happen tomorrow morning. It won't be everyone, but it will be significant. The struggle is real. Be mindful of others and be kind.

@255 end of August and no layoffs. Hopefully your source was wrong and we're ok.

Dont know about non represented employees...thats a different world and wish the best for each of you but in union land the layoff will be after the deal is closed. For the few prem techs that move to the new company good luck. As for the rest of the prem techs there wont be any work left to do. Maybe the company will feel generous and offer a buyout but most likely theyll try to get the net techs to bite first. After that, no more prem techs and probably the bottom of the net/broadband tech list. For those that stick around? Hope for a sale of the rest of local markets like the apollo deal.

I feel like after the past few years everyone is just waiting for more layoffs. If we say it enough we'll probably be right.

@255 Heard what departments? I have a gut feeling for August too from the rumblings I heard. I hope I am wrong.

I’ve heard something’s coming but wasn’t able to get details. My gut says it’ll be around Aug 20-22 give or take.

I’m sick of this. Cannot wait till I can find another job. None of us should be treated like this company treats us and our customers.

Where's the big news about a RIF? Did you have a reliable source or were you just trolling?

@dn

In our area the director would rather pay contract splicers 5 times more than have in house do it on overtime. But then pay in house regular time to go back and fix the splice. It’s such a back asswards way to run a business. Don’t get me started on what cdt’s do or refuse to do when they’re having a pi----g match with national techs.

@dh enterprise will fail, unless the company makes some changes!

Around here Enterprise customers are the domain of Special services, while there is a Span maintenance crew they refuse to splice their own fiber, the Mass markets fiber splicer are the ones maintaining the enterprise infrastructure along with contractors.

The company will find is self in a real bind when it starts liquidating the network techs in mass markets who are the ones performing the work of the Customer data tech who have responsibility for enterprise…

Things are so messed up that the COT are now the ones responsible for going out and driving the IOF fiber routes to find the cuts and have pits dug and having contractors do the splicing

because Management allows both the CDT’s and the Network techs to refuse isolating troubled that’s out side of a company geographic RCA..

Imagine refusing to fix our toll cable just because it’s passing through some other company’s exchange, Yip it now happens!

@cz and not taking the money for RDOF either. The enterprise business is their focus. That will mean layoffs at some point.

The ceo is playing to win a bigger golden parachute.

Buyout? Did someone say buyout? If the boss hands out the paper i wouldnt be able to sign it fast enough. Followed by a big dump in the back of my truck and using up the last of my vacay and pdp. Maybe even something special for the camera.
Make it be true.

Lumen has been on the decline for the past 2-3 years at least. The HQ was donated to a university to avoid more taxes and debt. Some fiber optics helped but not even worth mentioning after Q325. Simply as thîś
