Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Layoff request?

Is it weird that I'd like to be laid off? I am burnt out and was thinking of quitting anyway.
What can I do to get laid off while they still offer severance?

@be

Good life lesson to not go into debt, not to trust corporations, and to live below one's means and save/invest by sacrificing comfort and convenience.

I guarantee those that are happy to take severance have lived a life as I described.

@OP you sound like a pretentious schmuck for asking this silly question. thumbing your nose at others who are in dire straits.

@b5 They did one buyout before re-wire and stated there would be no more.

They used to do buyouts, but that was back when they at least pretended they cared (execs that is). This wasn’t even merit based or seniority based or anything like that. Zero transparency on how decisions were made.

I would LOVE to leave with a severance...make me an offer!

Perhaps they should ask for volunteers instead of selecting some that actually want to stay here. Start with those with 15+ years of service so severance is mostly capped.

Speaking for myself, I would normally prefer to keep my job but given what a complete sh*t show Walgreens is, I'll take a layoff with severence.

DM here. Was hoping for the same. The package most of my former peers got for leaving was nice. Could have had a nice summer vacay while searching for a new career outside of retail. Retail companies are always hiring management so if I couldn’t find something outside of retail, I’m confident I would find SOMETHING to pay the bills.

Instead, I’ll continue to work my 60-70 hour weeks to hold together this poorly communicated restructure and be too burned out to do a proper job search.

Must be nice to not be concerned about maintaining a line of stable income and employment especially in the current job market. What a thing to say 🙄
