Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Record low participation in VoE Survey

I don’t need to see the survey results, I want to see the actions and outcomes. It’s the same burnt out feedback as prior years but with less passion… so what’s the point?

“Improve culture” and “improve moral” without improving (or even addressing) the fundamental asks of the employee base.

My favorite, the other day I heard corporate will be removing the coffee machines because with RTO we’re drinking too much coffee, so… lol.

HR= Heap of Rubbish

@va haha, no.

HR can't and won't do anything.

It's not a problem that employee satisfaction is low; it's just establishing the barometer for their campaign to reduce headcount through voluntary attrition.

Another useless HR survey. Waste of time with no real actions.

Saw the comments section. Many complaining about benefits being stripped off. Removal of LTI options. Will HR take actions to improve these?

Had the lunchtime barking and clapping seals group scattered since their protection bailed?

@be They want us to do the surgery so that they can say "Look, we asked for your feedback and we solved your problems! This is what employees wanted!"

They don't want our actual feedback, and they don't want to solve any problems; it's only about being able to SAY they did.

I did do the survey as I mainly wanted to see all the comment responses at the end. Although I guess you can get to that somehow without taking the survey. Anyway, the comments did not disappoint. I answered the survey honestly - high marks for my actual work group as my boss is right there with us in this ongoing sh-t show. Not so great marks for company wide / function wide questions. But I am not blind to that none of if it even matters. They will not do anything other than what they already plan to do. We work for them, not the other way around.

@eg the 5 percent represents the clapping and barking seals who would applaud Tireman at his cheesy town halls.

only 5% of our workers have done the VoE survey, it means nothing to anyone, just a tick box, every year same old same old, nothing done to improve, just need to start listening.

A long time time ago, some financial person at 3M calculated that because people took significantly longer away from work when they went out to lunch than when they ate in the cafeterias, it was cost-effective to provide free lunches. That cost would be outweighed by the increase in productivity.

Of course it didn't happen.

A longer time ago, I worked for Exxon R&D as an intern. Lunches were good..really good. and inexpensive. And if you worked late (past 7), the cafe would deliver dinner to your office (free, of course)

The continued reminders (pressure) to complete the survey seems drastically higher this year. Anyone have insight as to why they came so much what we think now?

@a9+1k5bwfmhv In an odd way it feels like the company brought us back to disappoint us to the point of leaving. The prices are ridiculous! What a great way to make a profit off of your own employees!

No such thing as a free cup of coffee. Here quietly quitting working from home on the shore of Lake Superior, my fresh brewed coffee tastes better than any stale goat sweat 3M will provide for "free".

I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices they charge at headquarters for food and beverages! Why would they charge such high prices for institutional grade food? Do you hate us? A don’t know where to find a more expensive soda! If the coffee perk is removed I say pi-s on 3m!

@OP if they remove the coffee machines, the only way to fight back is more quiet quitting. When BB has to explain yet another lackluster metrics performance to Wall Street, he may blow a gasket and even force out Murf the Smurf. What goes around comes around Billy Boy.
