I get it. We all have an “in office goal”. The rest of us want to stay healthy. Work with your manager if it means you aren’t going to hit your RTO numbers. It is disrespectful to disregard others and expose us to your germs for a swipe.

@bd Let’s use a real-world example from this September:
Week 1 - In office 3 days
Week 2 - In office 3 days
Week 3 - Planned PTO
Week 4 - In office 1 day (Monday), started feeling under the weather Tuesday while WFH, ended up taking sick days Wednesday - Friday
Didn’t hit 9 days and there wasn’t anything I could do about it. It isn’t always as cut and dry as dry to make up the time.
@29e this is a really sh---y take. This job is likely how she pays to support that child. It's nobody's fault she has a chronically ill baby.
Blame the system, not the person. Maybe if we had a company that actually supported its employees she'd get her job done remotely when her child is sick instead of constantly being gone.
I have a woman on my team who would never be on the office if we had a policy of stay home if you are not feeling well. She has a young child who is always sick and in need of constant care. She uses her sick days as vacation. It su-ks having her on my team. It's not my problem you decided to have a child and it doesn't give you the right to do way less than everyone else on the team.
@hb we shouldn't have to use sick days unless we absolutely have to. There's nothing wrong with working from home when you're just not feeling quite good enough to be in. That's the way things used to be before COVID idk why they are being such massive di-k bags about it now. It's stupid.
Yeah, I hate to be a complete a-hole about it but I'm going to do my best to ensure myself and my valued germs spend as much time as possible around my leaders, that way we can all be in this together creating value for the shareholders.

If you do the right thing and consistently hit goal, then get sick, unless it’s the last week of the month you can probably make up the days and be at 100%. RTO isn’t going away, we all need to figure it out and trust that if we usually make it, then have one month we don’t it will be forgiven. I for one am sick of all things RTO.
Spreading disease at the water cooler is just part of the "workplace efficiency" that comes with RTO! My career will me impacted if I don't RTO enough, but no penalties for getting people sick. Although it's ironic switching desks every day will get the maximum people sick. But that's just part of the efficiency of the hotel desk checkout system. From COVID we learned we need to come into office and play the chair swap game or we can't be productive. This is the only way it can be. There are no other solutions the bank could pursue.

If you are sick but not hitting your numbers then come in during the weekends to badge in. It's quiet and you won't spread the disease. Or, use those sick leaves.

I actually have the flu and I am still going in. Sorry but I can't lose my job. I am currently interviewing elsewhere because this place went down the toilet with GJ and her people but until then I have no choice.
Just work from home then come in and "coffee badge" late in the day. Or during lunch or something.

How about a compromise? If you are sick, please feel free to coffee-badge. If you are contagious and feel you must work in the office, at least provide the courtesy of wearing a mask.
People have gotten so soft
Do some work in the evening away from others if you’re sick AND really want to work that day and don’t want to infect others. Figure it out. 11 days isn’t hard to hit. And if you can’t just explain to your manager if asked.
Eleven days isn’t hard to hit and there is plenty of flexibility to make a day or two up. If you are in a position to lose your job because you couldn’t stay home for one or two legitimate sick days then you likely haven’t been hitting your monthly goal repeatedly. That should not be anyone else’s problem.
@b5 I really don't think people are being intentionally selfish. People are genuinely afraid of losing their jobs and getting put on a PIP for missing in-office days. Unfortunately that means they come in when they're sick.
It's not the fault of the employees for being put in absolutely impossible positions. Should people stay home when they're sick? Yes absolutely. Will they? Probably not, but that's because of the culture of fear that RTO has created. Blame the MC, not your colleagues.

This was never a problem with work from home. They took it away from us, and this is what's left. Unless I'm in an iron lung or spewing uncontrollably from both sides of my pipe, I'm coming in.
Sorry you don't approve. As soon as you can get this policy rescinded, you don't have to worry about it again.

I am coming in sick or not I am not risking being written up for not making my 11 days / 3 days a week in office so my suggestion to you is keep a mask with you and keep to yourself.
Please be aware that it’s not as easy as just “working with your manager” to get a pass on your RTO days if you are sick. These are tracked at a level above your managers head, and retribution for missing swipes can come from above your managers head as well, and there is nothing your manager can do about it.

@a7 no your manager cannot grant you 90 days automatic WFH time, it’s not that easy. You need to jump through a few hoops, and HR will still need to review and approve.

@a7 flex time is typically non-medical. I wouldn't waste my flex time on an illness.
Your manager can grant you 90 days of WFH per year without involving HR for reasons like this. And there is a system to record this in.
@a1 Senior leadership has been clear about this. It is so selfish to disregard the health of others. If your position is at risk I doubt it is because you missed a swipe.
