Every single one of us is seen as replaceable by the management. They don't care what we bring to the table, they don't care how much institutional knowledge we might have, all they care about is if they can find somebody cheaper to do our job. That's it. And sadly for all of us, there's always somebody cheaper.

You work for a large multinational company, everyone is replaceable, there is a younger, smarter, harder worker around every corner.
In other insightful news from OP:

@bclx+1bFtuwYJ doubt that. SLB is still in 1900s. Woke is a relatively new phenomenon that SLB will catchup to in 2100s.
Are u new hire??? Cheap to do job??. They alway get expensive one that can do nothing. Most of them go through hiring buddy system.

Its not naiveity tho, 99.9% of people left at the company are well aware that the factors you pointed out are irrevalent to there future and that its more to do with being the best at playing games and snaking there way to better positions.

But the TRUTH needs to be pointed out to those who might by naive enough to think that intelligence, competence, and hard work WILL assure them of a future with the company.
Reality tells us that all the above is NOT nearly as important as is being a member of the 'good ol' boys' club, i.e. WHO YOU KNOW.
