Performance of Kmart

Assuming the remaining ones have some sort of profit, What would be best preforming?

I'd assume something like this.

I would venture to guess there’s a high possibility the two remaining NJ stores, Westwood and Avenel will be taken out together, but with Eddie’s history of leaving stragglers who really knows?

But seriously, they've made it this far, maybe they'll make it to the final 10! That said I think Westwood has survived because it's in a run down old shopping plaza that's in desperate need of a renovation, so no big box retailer wants to touch it with a ten foot pole. So basically that's worked in Westwood's favor to keep it open. And to be fair nobody thought Westwood would still be open at this point, and yet here we are...

@1ueb+1cU7zAhq West Wood might have been in the top 02, many Years ago, but not now. Have you been there? I have. On Sat. (their busiest Day since they are closed Sun.'s for blue laws), the place was desolate. Maybe 2 customers tops in there, and they were just wandering around not really buying anything. More employees than customers. Ceiling tiles falling down, good percentage of the store blocked off and abandoned, shelving ready to fall over. They are not top of anything right now. The only reason they (and Avenel too, for that matter) still exist right now, is that nobody leased it yet. They are both listed for lease:

These stores are both on Death row. Their fate is sealed, but the judge just hasn't set the Date of their execution yet. Literally Dead stores walking. As soon as someone leases them, the plug gets pulled.

Grass Valley is a different story. They won't survive because there literally isn't a Kmart within about 900 miles of there (the closest being Hamilton MT). So they are sending trucks to a specific location with no other stops nearby. This can't continue (although it could be argues that they share a truck with one of the Sears or Sears Hometowns that still exist in CA).

Hyannis? That's laughable. It was in a town, in the resort area of Cape Cod, that is really only occupied about 3 Months in a Year. Hardly anybody is in Cape Cod after Labor Day. And when a Target opened across the street from them, we Knew they would close. And predictably, they did.

Westwood is no where near as nice as Avenel. I find Avenel to be bettered stocked, brighter, and has a larger customer base. Frankly, Westwood looks like a dump these days with very little to offer.

Westwood and Grass Valley were among the top 20 performing Kmarts even when there were 435 go forward stores, The only other recent from the top 20 to close were Big bear lake, CA, Ephrata, PA, Hyannis, MA and North Lebanon, NH which from my knowledge were landlords decisions to close and now Transformco. Some the leases were bought out by redevelopment projects.

Have you guys not considered Kmart probably lists their products on Amazon as well? Just as they have 3rd party on Kmart.com, Some in house Kmart owned brands can be sold on amazon, Many companies do this, For example Greenbrier Company is the parent company of dollar tree and they sell their products on Amazon. It's not that far reaching that some Kmart sales are Amazon influenced, Wouldn't you think if Kmart was as bad off as we all assume Eddie would never have seen some reason to continue it all these years later?

@1dxb+1cU7zAhq Amazon runs the whole country. I am just stating that the Keys doesn't have Targy or Wally like most other parts of the US. The stores u mentioned, are hardware, pharmacy, or grocery, not clothing etc.. Of course Key West Kmart will close, I just think it will be later on with the USVIs, and the Guams of the World. Miami, and so many others are lower hanging fruit. Of course its all semantics. It's like if you eat dessert first or the appetizer or main dish. It will all be eaten. Only question is in what sequence. At this point in 2022, Or 2023, perhaps only Guam and Key West, along with some random Sears hometowns might remain.

Amazon runs the Keys,Publix,Walgreens,Home Depot and Winn Dixie.
Store is empty in the Keys and labor is non existent.

To poster below, really, you think Key West closes before Miami? I respect your opinion, but Key West has no other department stores while Miami is walkable to Target. And I would think West Wood before Avenel, as the former is only open 6 Days due to an archaic blue law and is in a small town, while Avenel is on a busy highway in a prime shopping location. But what do I Know, lol? I could be totally wrong, too.

Avenel and Key West, They gotta be the lowest hanging fruit. I have heard Bridgehampton is actually quite profitable. Hard to believe Bronx wouldn't be at least one of them is literally right on 95 on the way to the George Washington Bridge, Couldn't ask for a better location aside from well....the notority of it being the Bronx but still.

I'll start with the easiest part. The last 6 to close are probably:

I have been to the Hamilton, MT Kmart. Stopped by the store on our way to Yellowstone National Park. It was surprisingly full of merchandise, but the building was strangely small for a Kmart, like I would say it was half the size of any Kmart I have ever seen. They have a cool retro old school Kmart logo on the building, also had a nice selection of Montana souvenirs by the checkouts. This store must of had a pharmacy at one time, it looked super ghetto how they covered up the pharmacy windows with brown paper and put shelves in front of the counter.

Who are you kidding? Products in the store are mostly unavailable online. Do a quick search on Kmart.com just to try to find something that’s actually sold by Kmart and not a third party seller or if you do find a Kmart item, try putting it in the cart only to be told it’s unavailable! The brands in the stores are random TJMax, Ross dress for less style closeout brands no one has ever heard of. I would be surprised if stores have very many ship from store or even pickup in store orders.

Also, It's worth mentioning and potentially another reason these stores remain, Some of them are also online fulfilment stores for the website. I believe Bridgehampton and Miami are both used to fulfil online orders since the warehouses are not exactly pickable. Marshall and Bronx are possible also fulfilment centers, Therefore serve a purpose beyond being an operating store.

Marshall store is like having a license to print money, decent inventory too. They probably #1 in the states - have a very busy pharmacy too. Profitable store $$$$$
