Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

Year End Objectives

Seems like there’s a much bigger emphasis this year on explaining how you’ve met your goals and objectives that were submitted at the beginning of the year. Still need to work on day-to-day tasks and can’t always be expected to meet every goal. Seems like they’re looking for reasons to get rid of people.

@ve Micromanagers are abundant at this company. Worse is the opposite though, the lazy manager who puts blame on their reports when things go wrong. Although the lazy micromanager that just delegates and micromanages is the epitome of T Rowe Price.

@OP Yes seems this way for quite a few of the individuals producers. Quite unfair with middle management/leadership levels seeming to get payouts I believe that are negotiated. Not a fair place this company. I reckon they treat some people like trash…

I so much agree with not being able to trust HR. They back managers and don’t care in the slightest about the welfare of staff from my experiences. Horrible, horrible managers act with almost impunity sanctioned by both HR and dodgy local management in my opinion. Then you have incompetent regional management that don’t give a toss from what I’ve observed. Plenty of people who have suffered with the worse part being they portray themselves as caring. What a load of crock. Lazy useless vile management.

@bc I’m in Australia and I’ve felt pressured and bullied into providing a more favourable review for my supervisor come year end - almost certain their boss told them who had written what (or at least gave them enough information that they could strongly guess). Guy is an absolute psychopath and he kept trying to trip me up on things. Be careful team, TRP is not a nice place from my experience :(

YE reviews in my experience at T. Rowe has been a chance for a manager to bully staff they don’t like and force them out. Had a lot of anxiety and depression caused by manager. HR also absolutely useless in the whole process. Biased bunch of bullies.

Watch out for immature and vindictive manages. I've run circles around peers and still had managers deliver me a poor YE review. I've been through so many of these situations that I kind of enjoy them now. I always track everything I do and ask to see the how my peers are meeting the same e expectations I'm given. I always escalate to Sr. managers [but never go to HR]. I may sound paranoid, but watch what you say and don't trust anyone. Heads down and do your work until they cut you in a layoff, then collect your severance.

@bc agreed I gave feedback about my supervisor and said I think they should mitigate the work that comes to our team so we don’t get so overwhelmed and my supervisor’s supervisor questioned me on it

Yea I’ve literally been asked my by micromanager to create an excel sheet tracker with everything I do everyday and I’ve been questioned on it weekly in 1x1s. So fun

Yeah if you weren’t sure YE feedback is not private - they look after their own and tell certain people who said what - my experience anyway
