@bb Pontificating word salad comes to mind. He never makes a point nor provides a solution. And, blabbers on about how the article is a deeply personal expose.

@aq They did. Go read his recent LinkedIn. He has been suspended pending termination. T must have finally got enough on him.

Worse, he’s here clearing his cache and downvoting unfavorable statements about himself.

Here’s an excerpt from ANY of his stories: “…but this is not a story about (insert topic). This is a story about the hard working men and women that wake up everyday and (blah blah blah)….”

Formulaic and juvenile, boring, writing.

Guy thinks he’s a Pulitzer prize writer or something. And he should have been canned by now.

@fc , son, this “old man” could work circles around you + ten like you. Whether it be felling timber, rebuilding an engine, writing code or wh00pin’ backside.

@ee You cant be serious! Old people have a reputation of being d-mb, tired and lazy! Reputations are built on truth!

His writing is ponderous and he takes himself way too seriously.

@aq Good job side-stepping the real issue. Your comment might be true, but it does not change his accurate portrayal of the culture at AT&T.

That dude has to buy 3 plane tickets when he flies. I am pretty surprised they have not found a way to fire him yet. He must have serious political connections.

There's ageism - but not only in the way you are thinking.

AI is the future. We hear it every day. But, what is AI's past? Better question, WHO is AI's past? Its not the 23yr olds that AT&T claims to need. The AI is built on the discoveries of an older generation. People in their late 40's, 50's, 60's and even older! Everything the new generation thinks they know about telecom has come from the work that 60-something Labs guys came up with before any of the new hires were even born.

Children, listen up and take note. Your company wants your body and it wants your lower salaries, entry-level PTO, lower risk of STD-LTD, cheaper health and life insurance, no pension, RTO bred, and above all, absolutely disposable. They want you to use AI to write emails and prepare documents and presentations because they want you to remain stupid for as long as possible. Stupid means that you truly are just a number on a spreadsheet that can be deleted with a keystroke.

You aren't expected to innovate, you are expected to fill a chair and do as you are told, when you are told. You have no opinions and no ambition. You are, in fact, the perfect chair warmer for a company that is hemorrhaging debt. The sad fact is that most of you don't even realize that the 40-something "old guys" you are replacing are the ones who have provided you with the BOK that you dig into when you're trying to solve a problem. Like Obama gaffed, "you didn't build that" But in this case, he's right. You didn't built it. You are supporting it. You are using AI to create pretty new UX and to update docs, but that's about it. You aren't Agile, you're waterfall with teeny, tiny releases.

You are young, which means unreliable, inexperienced, inexpensive, and expendable. In 5 years when you turn 30, you'll have no experience and no skill other than that you used AI to write your code and create your emails and presentations. Feeling that ageism yet?

On the outside world, other companies that aren't AT&T and that haven't shut down the innovation pipeline will have no use for you. And what about those 40&50 somethings? Think they're out there panhandling on Akard Street? Nope. They left with pensions and certifications and years of experience creating and innovating. They understand AI but have the insight to know the difference between working and pretending.

AT&T is reducing the experienced workers for certain. Why, in 10 years, 35 is gonna be ancient! Good luck navigating the real world with only AT&T on your resume!
