Has anyone else heard the updated rumored target cuts? I have had two director-level people say that the new target is 45%. Both of them were in conversation, and their body language backed it up.
I am curious if any of you have heard that.

@21p that's absolutely correct. I've observed that some long-tenured IT personnel seem to lack basic understanding of fundamental business operations and concepts, surprised most leaders can't explain the distinction between conventional and unconventionals!
Hopefully one team actually does get cut, IT. Those d-mb people deliver zero value and their workforce is more than 10%. Start with their top person.
They will lay off people and count their spouses as head count so we can meet targets
Huge cut in Houston center
I heard it was 200%, they are going to bring back people that were laid off years ago and re-fire them!
@sy I've heard that many functions will be cut 125%
I’ve heard that departments that influence the price of oil will be safe. All others will be cut 100%
Agreed, 45% would be more of a specific area or function. Likely to be more in the 20-30% range overall.
@bb We say we want to be 'competitive', but we don't set processes to allow us to be competitive. ChickFila is competitive. . . .we are more like waiting in line at the DMV. Do you see us operating like ChickFila (in a metaphorical sense)?
We will say we want to be competitive but then still have to justify our job repeatedly or make 10 presentations why we are making a decision. You can't have both (be competitive but also super-cautious on decisions-making)!!
Aside from the fact that directors are pretty low in the pecking order so are probably just talking about rumors. If you are expecting to get anything from the people at this site that isn't just more guessing you will be disappointed.
I heard 75-80% cut
Possibly true but that's FTEs + contractors most likely and contractors should be the heavier weight of cut which will put more accountability on employees to deliver rather than take a free paycheck!
Management is finally arriving at a target that could put us in a competitive position. The works that adds value will continue and that work which isn’t consequential will fade from our memories.
Probably 45% for a specific area, not company wide. Like the previous poster said, the work doesn't go away. I've said this before and I'll say it again - it depends on your function.
Haha if it’s 40%+, you really have to weigh if it’s worth it to stick around. I guarantee 40% of the work isn’t going away. Management will still want things to the nth degree.
@OP 45% of the staff is getting cut??
40’s have been talked about for awhile, so it’ll be interesting to see if it comes true. Just like last time, org charts will be drawn, names will be listed, and the axe will fall within about 3 months. So look for an October surprise.
Org charts are being filled out in July
