These H1B postings by ExxonMobil is legally required to bring someone into the United States on Expat assignment. Interesting salary ranges for Upstream and Downstream Technologists.

@bm Nothing says you can’t do the same thing.

I have a rule: I never follow any rule that is being broken by the person who made it.

If execs can game the system then so can I.

@bk You can scroll the posts about this issue in this site. Read through the comments in the threads. Plenty of racist/racialist invective to be found on each thread.

If these people weren’t brown then you wouldn’t be complaining. It’s that simple.

I don’t feel oppressed. You shouldn’t either.

@bh

important to remember - here is how executives behave

  • work entirely from home and remote
  • frequently discuss and negotiate pay
  • job hop every 2-4 years
  • work multiple jobs at the same time (board seats, advisor, consult)

they’re complete hypocrites when they tell the common folk not to do any of that. leaders used to lead by example, now they just fire people and buy back stock because that’s what mckinsey said everyone else is doing too

the top is as full of slackers as it gets

@bg

what kind of replies are you expecting? you don’t even have an argument or data, you have accusations. i’d call you a one trick pony but that’s giving you too much credit.

@ba Go complain to the executives (who all WFH) about the RTO thing. As far as I can tell that’s about commercial real estate values/REITs, local tax breaks, and driving attrition.

@ba You likely have a very specific idea of what an “American” is.

Bottom line: you wouldn’t be nearly as perturbed if the H1Bs were going to people from Norway or Sweden. Your issue is that the visas (if they’re even granted) are going to brown people.

Query: is it really THAT bad to be around people who aren’t white? Asking because I have no issue being around people of color whatsoever. Never have. Help me understand what’s so difficult about it for you.

@ar

such a stupid bad faith question

american jobs are for americans. if i have to go the office to work, how do you reconcile that indians working on stuff that’s on my continent? either i get to be remote or indians cant do it because work needs to be done at assets and facilities. you can’t have it both ways.

@OP Would you equally upset if the recipients of the H1Bs were…

Swedish females?

Probably not…

@af Waivers are widely available.

Go read the text of the executive order.

Side note: can you people please take the Fox News/OANN/right-wing boomer political BS elsewhere? You’re neither changing minds nor reaching a very wide audience on this site.

XOM uses L1 for hipo candidates. It gets them in the "immigration system" to upgrade them to green card and put on US payroll then full US citizenship

the 100,000$ fee for making an H1B role can’t come soon enough

no other country on earth competes globally with zero local job protections. boomers claiming that’s normal are the ones who rigged the game. they get a pension, you get a 401k. they get to hold onto their jobs until they die, you get to compete with cheap indians. they got theirs by making sure you don’t get yours

@OP Could you go back to wherever you’ve been since the holidays started? This site has actually been better without your incessant grandpa-esque trolling.

And no, nothing that you have ever posted here or will ever post here will ever make any difference or change any of the policies you’re constantly complaining about.
