Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What date? What to do?

Does anyone know the final date now?

It’s getting very unproductive in the sense there is no clarity to do or to not do any work?

Im an "X" Oracle person with 20+ years at Oracle. In that time, I have seen many smaller RIFs and 4 really significant RIFS. Will Oracle layoff folks, the answer is yes. Does Oracle layoff folks most years, the answer is yes. The question is how many will be laid off this year. No one knows. There has been lots of speculation on various forums. Simple advice, control what you can and plan accordingly. The next few weeks and/or months will be telling - prepare for the worst (do your homework - resume's, apply and test the waters, etc), and hopefully regardless of what happens, you will be prepared. No one likes change, we all have families and responsibilities - control what you can and have a viable Plan "B".

@a6 Yes, in theory but for EMEA and countries with labor law protections. US goes first and it will take many weeks and likely months to run through those countries. US is the trigger (and likely India) for the wave to come.

personally, I'm really hurt out, I wish they can just get over with it already. If I'm been let go, why am I still on call and getting paged at night.

educated guess is either this week or next week, since the Q4 deadline is end of May, but due to WARN Act, they have to notify employees 60 days ahead of actual termination date. Which means, by end of March, they have to notify everyone.
I'm guessing it's taking them this long because it's not easy figuring out which 15k people to let go. They also don't want a long tail of notification period, as in it really hurts productivity when everyday a few people is letting go and there's no end in sight. So they will probably compile the list first, then notify everyone in a few days range.

There are scientists in white lab coats observing you from behind a one way mirror.
