@fq profits haven’t tanked, they are just going back to 2x normal instead of 3x.

Too late. The fundamentals in healthcare have been broken for quite some time.

I recently got contacted for another position at a healthcare organization that was a leading company in the Medicare space. I've been reading and hearing horrid things about that place too as their profits tanked in half last year and they are conducting ongoing RIFs - and what's worse, their stock market has a "hold" designation (and recently Goldman Sachs downgraded to Sell status). I feel like no matter where you go, there is degradation across all of these companies in the last few years.

@b9 the company historically has had some functions that are nationwide and support all markets, then there are other departments that are regional and these report up to a market VP. So when they say they are laying off in the markets it sounds like they have now gone to market vps to get their RIF list. It is logical to think that if layoffs happened in one market; other markets will follow.

Last year when I was RIF’d, I knew it was coming…. But holding out hope I was being paranoid.

I was RIF'd last month. It makes me sick to see that they are still doing RIF while senior leadership is making millions of dollars in income, letting go of people who are just trying to support their families, put food on the table, and do a good job at work. This company doesn't care. The managers and directors put names on the RIF list, just thankful that their names are not on the list. But who knows, maybe next time their name will be on the list to be RIF/d. Be careful of those last-minute, late-at-night meeting invites that are being sent with your leadership. Surprise when you log on; HR is also on the call. Remember, it is a business decision.

@b0
What does that mean, that you work in the markets? Our little silo doesn’t know any of the acronyms or names across the bigger company, just our little area. Sorry to hear of this for you

They sure did! Another day, another 1000’s of lives destroyed. Stop thinking anyone cares at elevance. Stop feeding their stock price- quiet, or not so quiet, quit. Hit c suite in the pocketbook. It’s all they know.
