Next surplus announcement date per contract for CWA/Leg T workers is September 15th. Of course many of us are hoping to be declared surplus to get the termination package up to 104 weeks pay for those of us with over 31 years service. We all know our job tasks are being automated and/or offshored thus we'll eventually be laid off - and we're simply hanging out happily waiting for the awesome 2 year paid vacation, hoping not to lose this in our next labor contract next year.

"Leg T union worker number is already way below and the union cannot do anything about it."
Welp. The fact that a new Legacy T call center was opened in Michigan and has hired 100 people begs to differ.
y'all really are c^nts
Rumor is 20% reduction in installation & mtc due to move away from copper services.
@jp where exactly are all these 1700 legacy T workers at? in areas where AT&T is a CLEC? we are supposed to be committed to fiber so what exactly are these people doing in the old Legacy T dept?
The "watermark" number is a joke and everyone knows it. Leg T union worker number is already way below and the union cannot do anything about it. Yes they can say that they're fighting taking it to arbitration however in reality nothing will happen other than nothing. The watermark will be lowered in the upcoming contract and the termination pay will be cut on par with other contracts. Most likely, the remaining 1,700 or so Leg T workers will be moved to the much cheaper Mobility contract just like what happened in the southwest last year. Any way it's diced, the company will be reducing costs, not increasing costs. Leg T workers are thus $crewsed.
The 96 techs that got severance in D6 a few months ago would strongly disagree.”

It already happened. No need for dreams.
Unless you are a "managers" hopeing "Your wildest dreams come true".
Leg T… our union has an arbitration on the watermark. We have been waiting and begging and they do they fight the surplus just to keep our dues. No way we have that in next contract.

Just because you don't like doesn't make it less true.
I like my fries on time, same as my burger. Step and fetch boy.
You will do as instructed when Stankey gives your sweet gig to Patesh.
Will absolutely not happen.
When I get my 2 years termination pay, I'm going to lmfao.
"We need you to work late also."
They're not letting techs work late even if it is needed..

District 4 is jealous, we only get up to 88 weeks term pay. Kudo’s for negotiating the 104 weeks, well deserved!
No surpluses, Get back in that Florida summer attics and pull gpon in the hood till your 65th b’day. Get to work and sweat. We need you to work late also. Short handed.
What will people under 65 be selecting for health insurance if they get surplussed?

The same insurance we had as employees. We keep that as retirees. Pay the same out of pocket premiums.
Union benefits are pretty neat, right?
You could leave at anytime.

This is true, or I could wait until AT&T pays me enough severance to pay off my mortgage. That way my 401k and pension is fun money in my 50's and SSI will be icing on the cake.
By the way, you can leave too, but it won't be by your choice.
Nobody is getting any 104 weeks of pay. Those Machiavellians will pull out the stops to avoid that…regardless of what’s in your contract.

The 96 techs that got severance in D6 a few months ago would strongly disagree. They would disagree with you all the way to the bank.
That bank would be the one where they deposited their substantial severance check.
Are you going to get one of those checks "manager"?
Dead weight.

And the "dead weight" will be cast aside with a 6 figure severance package that will leave all of them smiling.
How about you "manager"?
Comments like yours make it easy for us not to care about your inpempending financial ruin when your job is offshored.
Craft has been at a minimum workforce for years. I see few people getting the AXE. UNION RULES!!!
Dead weight.
@b8 They obviously know they can leave at any time. Clearly that's why they stated they wanted the two year severance. You can read at any time as well.

T wants us ALL gone, unless you’re a contractor or offshore.
