Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

At this point, does anyone still believe we'll ever find our way back?

Not just to the culture, but to having a direction that makes sense. All these reorgs and layoffs feel like they're just propping up the stock price. Because I sure can't see any other purpose.

We’ve found our latest recipient of the “Fell for it Again” award.

Jesus Christ what an embarrassing display of naïveté

The decline will continue until our executives no longer have financial incentives to hollow out the company.

If you're talking about Nike tech, why do you want to go back. Nike tech culture has always su-ked a-s. Hiring incompetent and barely competent people because of nepotism was always a bad move. I didn't matter as much when money was flowing, bit it was still bad. If anything we need a way forward to a better culture.

@at... this is the greatest and fairest nation that has ever existed (in all of recent history. PERIOD)! May be that talks through the pain and suffering and subsequent negativity or hopelessness in light of politics of the last decade. Only if we recognize the bad, would we even invest the fix for good.

We gotta correct many actions for the better, only if we are not obsessed with the million self-fulfilling -isms in our society. Together we rise, together we fall. But that is a herculean task given the state of education. Wish every soul the best nonetheless!

@aj I think nike and the general US do run in parallels, though I wouldn't say this is a 'rotten' nation

has issues, yes, has greatness, also yes, heading in the right direction, could be better

gotta be optimistic, otherwise negativity breeds more negativity, it's an endless cycle

@aj
the US's culture has turned/changed
it is not prosperous for regular working middle class folks
it is some greedy financial mess
that is hollowing out the US
this will not have a happy ending

What country would you like to move to? I’ll pay for your airfare. But you cannot ever come back.

If you believe US can be back than nike can also be back

otherwise no, nike will collapse together with this rotten nation

I think that's what they are trying to do, get tech back to a smaller less 'on prem' based solution, between the aws costs in the last 10 years, and now ai costs, pretty sure they are :shm: on the beyond inflation spend -- at least from a GT point of view

now for what matters for the swoosh, a ~50B a year company....if any part of the company needs to 'find it's way back' it's product, duh

I think they will get it better, but not great, good in some areas, but not amazing, maybe one or two really good products, but not line up and bid up type great

more commodity based, fills a need, but not a 50B need, more like a 32B need, and maybe that's ok....and a top end of $70 stock, which is inflation adjusted on being just good ol commodity stock

no more tech/ dotcom style growth......not a growth company, change mantra......higher dividends that is that
