Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Transition to Deerfield

OPO employees having meeting with their manager seeming to gauge interest in leaving over the change. Are they making a list of who to let go due to “downsizing”?

@k7 Guess if you are leaving they don't have pay severance, but as you state why on earth would you tell them you plan on leaving unless you already have a job lined up.

This is very weird. They have to know that most people aren’t going to answer honestly if their intention is to leave. Most prefer to leave at a time of their choosing (new job) versus a layoff. There has to be a sneaky reason they would send this out.

Your outlook Org needs to say your reporting office is OPO, regardless if you actually work on Deerfield or Chicago.

Any good manager is talking with their team members to understand the impact on them as individuals as well as the broader team. And at a very basic level, they need to make sure there is space for their team member to sit.

Employment law at this company must be sleeping because this seems a very murky route to go with. So many red flags with this form and asking employees these questions! Wow.

@b8

Be honest and tell them what you think about the change. I think about 400-500 people affected with the OPO closure. They won’t lay us all off. So they have to come up with some solution that works for all.

@ae I did not have a meeting but they had to fill out a MS Forms with some questions.
Team member’s stated intent regarding continued employment with Walgreens given the required transition to the Deerfield office?
If the team member is assigned to the OPO office and lives more than 50 miles from the Deerfield office, are they interested in relocating closer to Deerfield?
Do you feel this team member may be at risk of leaving the organization??
Additional Insight
Which questions came up that you didn’t have answers for?

I'm an OPO employee, I haven't had a meeting with my manager put on my calendar. Did you meet with your manager? How did this conversation go?

Seems like they are trying to determine who’s at risk of leaving from OPO to narrow down the final list of layoffs that will be occurring in the next few weeks.
