Anyone else’s computer already get completely reimaged and erased and locked down without any warning?? I thought we were supposed to be working until the 19th. Is this normal?

Not reimaged, but i lost my gitlab and gcp access. My manager is pi---d because he thought I would help with the transition.

Sounds like IT jumped the g-n on terminating access. Hopefully your manager can get you rocking and rolling again!

Good luck with your commissions!

Keep us updated regarding what they say or if you get access again.

OP here, I’m in a sales role and have this month and next month commission to hit so yes I NEED my computer. So far I’m the only one I’ve heard of this happening to haha.

It's not unusual for corporations to immediately shut down computer and database access for security reasons.

It's a bit of a shock for the soon to be ex-employee as reality starts to hit you that the company is actually moving forward with disengaging from you.

@b8 I can see your point, but does anyone here actually know someone who was laid off and then had their severance cut for not working? It's a good threat, but is Verizon willing to actually follow up?

No. I still have the same access I did prior to the layoff notification. I’m still actively working on my project. I still have access to network devices. Nothing has changed for me and I’m still working just as much if not more than the days prior to notification. It certainly interesting and speaks to the Verizon culture that some of us are required to continue working, and others are completely shut out. I certainly would’ve rather been in the bucket of just logging off and being done with it. But to get the severance one must make the leader leadership, happy dance, monkey dance. f gnt at the end of the day the situation we’re in as a result of failed leadership not only from Hans, but from those who lack the ba--s to say anything to higher up and play along. Leadership isn’t conformity

Yes. Most companies do this to laid off employees out of fear of retaliation, deleting important files, etc.
