Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Office attendance

Supervisors can see when direct reports are not in the office. Are they able to see the time the employee badge in and out of the building too?

I have co-workers who ride vanpools in which van time is 100% included in the nine hours as people are able to do work emails on their phones in the van. Some of them also do an hour in the gym at the start of the day. So they are at their desk max 7 hours if they skip lunch.

Did ya’ll see the HR email reminding us about core hours in office & expectation to work your full 9 hr day at the office. My observation is that no way in he-l HOU140 observes this. Most of my coworkers are either picking up kids, catching a bus or vanpool, heading to the gym, basically hardly anyone I interact with actually puts in a full 9 hrs at the office.

I'm sure they can figure out badge in / out times without having to actually get up and walk down the hall (heaven forbid). The other question is ask me if I care.

In Texas it is perfectly legal for supervisors to see full records of all times entering and leaving the workplace. This is available on the dashboard as such. If you are clever there are some ways around tagging in and out, just don't get caught.

@OP Depends on the building and location. Most reports show how many days the employee badged in. Times could be generally be requested if there is suspicion of abusing the system. Also depends on if there is a badge out requirement which isn’t universal across all sites.

I am liking the new schedule, takes a little getting used to but it's kind of like actually having a job again for most instead of being paid to do little to nothing.

I thought you guys have to come in only 4 days a week, that's pretty much slacker's hours! Is everyone's still complaining about badging in and having to show up? Good grief. Go get a gubmint job or non-profit do nothing woke type position where you can sit around and share your fee-fees about things. This is getting old, this is a site where people are worried about losing their jobs and supporting their families not how cushy their work environment is.

Just come to work and do your job. Quit worrying about whether they are watching you because if you haven't realized it they have been watching for some time.

Yes we can if we want to access it. And we really don't care much about it if you get your work done. (That's a big IF)

@b7 This is absolutely incorrect. Supervisors cannot see badge in/out times.

No, they can’t. HR has denied the requests for time stamps. It’s too much of a legal quagmire and get into employment type designations. They don’t risk it.

@b7 I am in the office 4 days a week. My question is toward micromanaging supervisors who watch the clock and expecting their direct reports to clock in exactly 9 hours a day.

Supervisors can see whatever details they want to pull when you badge in/out. If you plan to stay and dont want to be put on a PIP for not meeting attendance standards you need to be in the office 4x week. Attendance is black and white.
