IC here. Been a while… I check this site every month or so and haven’t seen it this active since the Friday before Oct 2023 layoffs. What a time.. lol
Anyways, I guess I always knew deep down that RTO4 (eventually 5) would come to pass. I don’t agree with it, I think it’s stupid af, but I guess I’ve just become numb to giving a sh-t. Another day a week in office means more money and time spent on gas, commute, daycare etc. for no reason other than to sit on virtual teams meetings and have distracting conversations in the rows. It adds literally nothing of value to the business or productivity side of things and is nothing more than a display of the control execs have on our lives. The 3 day system was working, nothing was wrong with it, and for those that haven’t abided by those rules… 4 days isn’t going to fix that problem.
All that being said, I just don’t have any energy left to devote to being mad at Schwab anymore. Glint surveys don’t accomplish any change whatsoever and anything below a ‘5’ just puts a target on you and your manager’s back. Employee feedback regarding these things is ignored, obviously. I’ve grown numb because that’s how I’ve learned to survive here (I sure do miss TDA lol). It’s bad for my health to stress about what they’re gonna pull next and better to just drone along, towing the line
I’m just spent in the frustration dept. I need this job, I need the money… If that means going in 4 days a week, so be it. BUT if they pull this again with RTO5 and get rid of sabbatical, I have absolutely no reason to stay.
If the end goal was employee submission, I guess they’ve won. Some sorry sh-t to say the least. I used to suggest meaningful changes and ways we could improve things all the time. I used to give this job everything I had and produce at a high level. Now, I just do my work and wait for the weekend… what’s the point, ya know?
