Hybrid policy changing to minimum 3 days in office?

In a different post a commenter said the hybrid policy was about to be updated and announcements would be made soon. Anyone have more info on this?

I believe it, prior to Covid they were in the process of eliminating any and all WFH then Covid happened.

We need to remember that all large corporations who are on the "you cannot truly be working unless your butt is firmly planted in an office cubicle" bandwagon are doing so in collusion with one another. The ultimate goal is to provide revenue support to their corporate brethren who rely on commuters for profits:

  • The automobile industry
  • The oil and gas industry
  • The clothing industry
  • The fast food industry
  • The corporate real estate industry
  • The janitorial industry
  • The corporate security guard industry
  • The police industry (more cars on the road provide more speeding ticket revenue)
  • The local government industry (they rely on workers paying local taxes based on their office location)

I wouldn't doubt that the d-mb a$$3$ would divest real estate, require staff in the office 3 days a week where there isn't enough room, then fire them for non-compliance or productivity issues. That said, this is an ill-founded rumor.

No basis in fact - someone is spreading rumors.

if your job all day is to talk on the phone and your metrics are tracked- who are you talking to in the office? And if no one in the office is even in your department and has nothing to do with LOB then what are you collaborating about? Getting to know a stranger who is just as irritated as you to come into the office "to make a point" -I don't have time to talk to another person - my job is to talk to a member, document as I talk, and then talk to another member - rinse and repeat.

Same here also. Hired over 10 years ago and compensated accordingly to be full time remote permanently. Now having to report into an office where I do not work with a single person there. I did not break my employment agreement, the employer did.

I am the same as @e8+1jjm3f94q. I have NEVER worked in the office in over 15 years and none of my team are here except me. It's not something that happened because of COVID. I was hired as fully remote.

Same, hired remote well over 15 years ago, now hybrid. I do not work with a single person in my state, let alone office.

Let’s remember what the govt was doing during Covid, forcing vaccination. ELV did not follow suit so there’s no reason they’d start aligning with govt policies now (except for Fed workers). Exception being if they’re offered more tax breaks, or some other form of a monetary carrot. A company can’t invest as much as it has in environmental programs and then tell 60K-something people in the US to drive in 3x a week. Same goes for the govt. Bunch of hypocrites if they do.

We were hired fully remote and now required to go into the office. It was not taken into consideration when forcing the hybrid policy on us.

@bv+1jjm3f94q Not everyone. I was full-time work from home before Covid but luckily have stayed that way. I know people who were hired as full-time wfh and were turned into hybrid.

If they do go to 3 days a week, they will have to reduce onshore staff to make that happen.

dont ever repeat this again. Dont ever suggest this again. I just bought a camper last week and I had a nightmare about this.

The office here is like 20 cubicles.. It would be a cruel joke to make us rto.

There is not enough space for everyone to go in three days every week at my assigned location.

I was at the Mason Ohio office recently and there is far more less space for people to come in 3 days a week than it was pre pandemic. The office looks amazing but a waste of money. They had already did some upgrades during the pandemic that no one got to see or use. This company has changed to greed first just like the NEW USA that's developing right in front of our eyes. Pay attention people! The Have and Have NOTS!

Well if they do impose this then I guess they want a bunch of people to leave do they save money on riffing. Win/win for the company I guess.

Trump is just making a policy stating that the government workers in D.C. need to go back to the office, not all companies and their employees that do not work for the government. Each company that has hybrid/work from home employees, still have the choice.

I think it is highly possible. Mainly because of the new Govt's take on return to work policy to boost the economy. I would not be surprised if EH mandates to minimum of 3 days a week, with some conditions.
