Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Tech cuts seem likely.

Consolidating the Tech leadership under a "sustainability" COO IN the same 2 weeks everyone is being told to hurry up and update their skills listing in Workday. The writing seems on the wall for another season of tech "reorganization".

Does this mean we're finally done fu--ing around with NFTs and trying to homebrew dead-end AI hype?

IE needs to be completely moved to ITC, nothing they do there that we cannot do in India.

@dp ummmm CIS doesn't have any bloat from where I'm sitting. At least in ops we are working our as--s off, every week.

Any conversation that discusses bloat needs to directly involve CIS

Who is asking people to fill out their workday skill profile? We are not doing that in my GT department. Maybe that means we're all getting cut.

You may be reluctant to fill out your skills information in workday. Hard to say if it does or doesn’t save your job in the long run. The talent function at Nike is immature. Meaning there are some great people on the team, but there is not a strong infrastructure or strategy in place. Simply put, they have no idea about your skills and Background. You can either leave that to chance and hope you can hide in the shadows or you can share your skills and information and hopefully prevail as they work through resetting GT.

Remember…there are layers on layers of VPs in Tech. Look at Game and Elliott’s cousin.

@bn agree here. Techmod is toast now finally! Stop building trash we are not tech company! Also agree on VP’s. Some might debate on some leaders of those domains being better than others. Pretty obvious the ones who never get posted on here are probably the good ones.

We handed the keys to technology decisions to someone whose greatest tech achievement is successfully rebooting their laptop, and now every Karen in accounting and Chad from marketing has ascended to Full-Time Visionary CEO status.

@b6 the real question isn’t which domains need to go it’s which VPs need to go. Most are useless with little to no tech skills and are operating with an agenda.

Also which so called distinguished engineers need to go as well?

Let’s also burn Kaushik and team in techmod down to the ground as well

SEC doesn't exist as an org (and never should have, it was a project for gods sake) It's all CF now

Ok which tech domains go first or worth keeping and valuable? I agree with post below. Get rid of CPI, DAI, and FPE.

SCPT - RA
CPI - JS
CIS - AS
TMO - AG
IE - AC
RESE - Nobody
SEC - MF
TPLM - ME
DAI - AB
GAME - DA
FPE - JC

I think that is all of them!

SCPT has so many useless PMs and is one of the largest bloats in GT. Given where the org sits, VA won’t touch it.

Tech is returning to its place as a cost center instead of revenue driver.

Head count will be reduced. Non-critical teams will continue to be axed. Career growth is no longer up for discussion.

SCPT Rajeev didn’t nothing in years.

I don’t see many cuts in the future. The COO position historically had tech under its arm so this feels more like getting back to business as normal

lmao NFTs have been dead for years at Nike, unless I missed some tiny area in the company that was holding on to it, and that's coming from someone who worked on the tech.

SCPT is the most bloated organization but of course VA won’t touch it.

I predict CPI, DAI, FPE, TMO, and MR over FTS all gone in simplification. Save sooooooooo much money!! Elevate CIS back, bring back TechOps, let domains federate architecture aligned to the business. Simplify and go.
