Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

From Terminated to Self-Made: My New Beginning

I got terminated from my job after 7 years. It wasn’t easy to accept especially knowing I was one of the top earners on my team. Last year my performance slipped, and looking back, I could feel something was off. I started to realize I was being pushed out.

But here’s the thing sometimes what feels like a setback is actually a reset.

At the start of this year, I shifted my focus fully into the stock market. I had been learning and investing for almost 6 years, but never gave it 100%. Now I am and I genuinely love it. For the first time, I feel like I’m building something for myself, not just working for someone else.

I’m also starting to move into rental properties, creating another path for income and independence. I don’t know exactly where this road will lead, but I know I’m no longer standing still.

I’m sharing this because conversations like these helped me prepare mentally. If you still have a job, stay sharp and keep growing. If you feel like something isn’t right at work, don’t ignore it prepare yourself. Build skills, save money, create options.

Don’t wait until you’re forced to move -move before that.

Sometimes you don’t realize your strength until you’re pushed into the unknown.

Good luck to everyone on their journey.

Try 25 years then let go because I couldn't get to an office a hundred miles one way three times a week.
No issues, corrective actions etc.

Yet management never went to bat to help keep employees on. Teamworks spells out remote exceptions. Youd think in a dire situation, that only a few on the team can do your job (specialized) they be-doverbackwards to help keep them from losing their job.
Nope they rather drop the experienced folks for someone that lives closer.

Or I'm not entirely sure though.

She may not have appreciated the fact that there may have been some perceived advances along the way.
No one ever said anything to me about it, so I guess that wasn't the reason I was let go either.

@b5 because the stock market is not the economy. The top 10% of the country owns >82% of the stock market. Main street can be bleeding and the market roaring at the same time. This narrative is showing up all over the place now.

The wealthy keep spending while the rest of us are tightening our belts.

@OP Self-Made individual, I have no idea what your investment portfolio contains but if you are one of the newly minted millionaires created by Trumps Tariff actions and you are holding 50% in NA100 and 50% in SP500 indices you earned at least another $17,900 in todays market! That layoff certainly was a blessing, nice work!

"Last year my performance slipped"

If this is real, you weren't forced out; you underperformed.

Can someone, anyone, please explain to me, a total novice, how can there be so many layoffs at Wells Fargo and other banks and institutions yet the stock market is going bonkers every day? How is it possible to have such mixed results?
