From the article:
"New candidates as well as our existing Oracle employees are increasingly energized by what we are building here in Nashville," said Scott Twaddle, senior vice president, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
From dictionary.com:
twaddle - silly, trivial, or pretentious talk or writing; nonsense
Coincidence?
@b4 that just means they eliminated some business group. Everyone in that group was let go regardless of where they were located. I would expect to see a lot of this. Just stop doing things that don't add value.
Nashville is going to sound better and better once you realize just how bad the job market really is.
But never, ever forget that:
Uncle Larry giveth and Uncle Larry taketh away.
@b1 You raise a very interesting question. I'd like to hear the answer to that myself
Nashville is less expensive in a lot of ways for Oracle. They can shed a lot of people just by moving job functions to Nashville. When they rehire people to back fill for those who don't move the wages will be far lower.
@b1 that would be strange because they terminated at least one entire in-office team in Nashville during the August round
@OP Be curious to see what the ratio of remote to in office worker layoff is in this and the sep round of layoffs. Are they trying to do an RTO with a focus on getting people to Nashville via these layoffs....
@OP Holy sh-t
