BA role with Fiserv DNA Experience

What does a Business Analyst do, supporting Fiserv DNA? Is it difficult to catch on if I have BA experience but not specific to DNA experience? I'm thinking about doing an internal transfer for this role but would like to hear feedback from one that has been in a similar role.

@b4 just for the record NA does not have one line of COBOL.
The @fx is one an accurate take.

Nepotism runs deep in DNA, and the culture is pretty bad, so I doubt you will get the internal transfer based on your skills, all teams are dominanted by people from a particular country, and if you don't speak their language or don't "know" or are related to them you might not get the job. I dont think they would need DNA experience though most managers here don't care about the work.

DNA is probably the most… problematic… core. Lots of lost expertise, every implementation is basically a bespoke version for each client, processes don’t align at all with the enterprise on anything. So there is a lot of work, it it’s a go forward core so it’s probably a stable job. It’s also Fiserv, so you can easily coast doing nothing if you want.

A random soccer mom in Tulsa OK had her car payment double-billed. The credit union uses Fiserv DNA, so the root cause is a bug in a PICTURE clause mixed up in a huge bowl of spaghetti COBOL code written in 1987. There was still one engineer in Milwaukee who understood the COBOL dark magic, but Frank decided to move the job to India.

Your job is convince the India team to fix this bug and return the mom's money.

Good luck!

Hoping the hiring manager likes your profile and is not biased about bringing someone internally from other area. I've applied internally and I've never been considered. I've worked in the software quality engineering field for 17 years, most of my experience have been as technical lead and with experience managing, I made sure the tools highlighted in the description were covered and I applied internally and no dice. When I asked the HR analyst on the decision of the hiring manager, he said "I need a more seasoned QA" . 17 years! Experience, same toolset! He overlooked or saved the position to a buddy.
