Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Phase 1 has Started. Soon We'll See Nvidia, MSFT, Google, Meta, AMZN, Tesla, ARM maybe even AMD Start Using IFS!!!!

With the Administration owning 10% of Intel (Phase 1), it's basically guaranteed that domestic companies who want to avoid tariffs and the Administration's ire will start sending business to IFS (Phase 2). Granted, it's unlikely going to be 18A, or even 14A anytime soon (but eventually)... but I think they'll test the waters with 14nm and 10nm... and packaging (heck, even Nvidia and Tesla signed on for packaging before this deal).

Phase 3 will be to arm twist TSMC into taking management of IFS, so it can be efficient and competitive. I am predicting that the Administration will entice TW by selling them more advanced we-pons, and make some more overt statements around TW's sovereignty.

Then finally, Phase 4, in five three to five years, IFS could be spun off as a working, profitable, stand alone company. Any sooner than that, they are just fooling themselves.

Intel has design flaws, security flaws. They're still trying to get out product that was promised 5 years ago. No one is going to pick intel over the competitor. They may have to sell some machines to pay for some of the class action lawsuits.

@ar My God... Intel is full of mo--ns and id--ts. No company is going to rely on IFS to fab anything important or meaningful since every single project for foundry has FAILED over the past decade or two. I repeat, every single foundry effort by Intel has FAILED... so of course, no one is going to trust them with anything important. They'll port over some legacy designs as proof of concept, and execution. Once that appears to work fine, they'll start migrating more designs over.

Only an Intel fu--ing mo--n would think a company would bank their most important, critical products on a company that has failed to execute on manufacturing the past 20 fu--ing years.

@b4 it's easy when you have all the leverage.

These are well-run companies. Why do you expect all the good managers will turn into id--ts?

Are these companies going to downrev their chip design back to 14nm? That is a f-c king stupid for customers. I will avoid if any of the chip from these companies is fabbed at Intel.

@ae Ge-z... Intel just hires people that don't know how to read, or have severe comprehension problems. What part of the OP post saying they would start with 14nm or 10nm?!?! So that is 8-10+ year old technology. So you are actually agreeing with OP, but you apparently don't understand you are agreeing with them. No wonder Intel is in the sh----r.

Can Intel make chips for others? It can not even make its own chips. 70% of advanced chips of Intel itself is manufactured by TSMC and others.

Will other companies wait for 10+ years for Intel to catch up with advanced process technology?

@a5 CHIPS money was never going to get distributed to Intel because they weren't going to build out Ohio. So they had to find a new way to get Intel the money. That said, anyone who thinks the Administration won't force companies to use IFS doesn't know this Administration's MO. Guess who forced the Secret Service to use Trump Hotels at non-discounted prices? Who thinks the Trump Organization didn't get a company to overpay $275M for the Old Post Office lease in DC? Who meets with powerful and global leaders in Mar-a-Lago? Who just flew to Europe and promoted the Trump golf course in Ireland?

What an idi-t...typical Intel hype, everything is always 2-5 years out. 2-5 years from now Intel won't exist.

Nothing is guaranteed. The Government wants a stake in the company to offset the risk of granting chips act money. 18A isn't ready for HVM and certainly not ready for external customers.
