Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

EH is boomer who doesn't get technology

EH is very less educated with a typical boomer mentality that technology is just made of fluffy.
He is not a strategic guy to understand that in tech driven world, although you don't need to be tech company but tech drives your competitive advantage.
These layoffs may save a dime before year-end but long term impacts on Nike's ability to compete against its competitors is eroding fast

Moving everything to ITC is the real problem. Nike already tried this 15-20 years ago when they outsourced IT and out source moved it to India....nike slowly clawed it all back.

here we are a decade or more later and nike is going to do it again...guess maybe in 10 more years nike will bring it all back.

@b3 genius. @ac said tech as an ENABLER. Not a pillar. You’re part of the problem. The function has been over-funded and rudderless. NIKE IS NOT A TECH COMPANY.

What you expect from a salesman lol? Soon he will realize they are not selling well and think it is operations problem now and cut operations and bring even more sales folks in lmao. Never will a boomer admit e-commerce is the future. Maybe he will even shut down .com and app until the wholesale partners sc--w him over

@ac name one significant thing we do that does not trace back to dependencies in GT. Go

Its 2026, the scale of this company is clearly beyond your ability to understand how the world turns. We're now getting into an even bigger mess because the sales boomer leading us off the cliff doesn't get it either

He isn’t making same mistake, he is making a brand new mistake. That is being anti-tech. What do you expect from a Kinesiology major?

To its pedigree, nike should have offered the big job to Stanford MBA who is also a show dog. Sc--wing around with that is just going to get deadlier for the firm.

Employees will leave and thrive elsewhere. Brand and company is cooked.

The one-dimensional tech apologists on this board are hilarious. I’m still waiting for one of you to explain exactly what tech investment Nike should have made to save the company. In Nike’s business model, tech should be an enabler. Not a pillar. Product, Brand, Distribution, People. I’m thrilled tech is going through a reset. I’m sorry for those of you losing jobs. But the company can better leverage its shrinking resources.

Whatever shortcomings EH has, you can lay the Tech issues at the feet of GT leadership. Same VPs playing musical chairs for years, mismanagaing, creating toxicity, deaf to business need mostly because they are interested in either building something useless to help them land an elevated role at a real tech company or they are just clueless about how the business works. The inability to prioritize accurate and consistent data foundations being a good example of the incompetence. Commitment to the fundamentals is rare. Not a good look from the outside when it comes time to cut budgets. Throwing it all on ITC obviously won't work out any better. It's actually going to take hard works to focus of getting the basics right whether that's ITC or PHK. Feeling for the folks on the ground in GT this week. Keep your chins up.
